Default My350z Dyno Database...?

I was thinking that it would be cool if we had a My350z.com Dyno Database - A shop that did some work for me awhile back has one on their site that lets you compare different cars/setups, but it's limited to just their customer cars.

Now there will definitely be variances between different dyno submissions due to the different dyno/elevations/corrections/etc – I was guessing +/- 5-15%, but the power curves and overall peak number averages would be a good gauge for people to evaluate different setup performance levels without searching the site...

Check out an example of what I'm referring too; Dyno Database

I'm guessing there are probably a dozen or so programmers on this site that would be willing to take on a side project, and I'll be the first person to donate some funds if the site Mods support and want to implement this idea...

Thats a really awesome program they are using. I don't have a program like that but the forum I run has the ability for everyone to create their own garage and upload dyno charts and time slips associated with their cars and has provisions to show a table of dyno numbers and 1/4mile times as well. Here's what I have:

Garage:
http://www.turboneticsownersclub.com/garage.php

Dyno Charts:
http://www.turboneticsownersclub.com...de=rollingroad

1/4 Mile Table:
http://www.turboneticsownersclub.com...de=quartermile

Not sure if something like that exists for vbulletin but on phpBB its called the phpBB garage.

Rob,

What about posting lap times as some of us dont run the 1/4 but do go to track events? They dont give out slips, but posting times at tracks would be an interesting list to compile as well. Just a thought!

Bob,
Thats an excellent idea. I don't think there is any functionality for that in phpBB garage but I'll suggest it to the developer. Maybe there is something he can do for that.

This is a great idea... but to do this RIGHT, it owuld be incredibly beneficial too build in paramaters that would allow true apples-to-apples comparison. This means LOTS of variables. I can think of two, BOOST and OCTANE, and is probably nearly impossible to do, as 1) the octane rating is approximate and can be over/underreported by the dyno operators, and 2) boost is NOT indicated in any of the dynojet plots ....so there is no way to know exactly how much boost the car is actually running....

Hence, not sure how useful such comparisons would be without these variables accounted for.... just my $0.02

This is absolutely true which is why I like phpBB garage as you input your time slip and it is referenced to your dyno results that you had for that run. Its a good cross reference.

Yeah - basically you're working on the honor system, and granted, the total BS charts can spotted a mile away and should be deleted by the mods... It's kind of like the top 1/4 miles time slips, sure someone can BS a time slip, but hopefully people will just be honest.

In the end I view this tool not for bragging rights but more for a comparison of different setups... it isn't easy to quickly locate direct comparison data on this site besides peak numbers…

I love this idea especially to build up the database for all the different tracks around the country. Drag and road included! It would be great to have a benchmark for any track out there you may go to!
