I have a G35 so I have that extra compartment where the stock Navi is located. I have my Turboxs Tuner in there and the rest is on the pillar.

As for the highway run, we will have to work some things out but I am sure we can make something happen.

Athens, I honestly didn't even take the time to read what you replied, but someone creating controversy on something as trivial as a turbo decision, is just good clean entertaining fun! Not to mention is just brings to light another person who will make a decision not off some fanboy but hopefully track down sasha's thread and decide from facts.

I have never been a bandwagon follower, i am on my 3rd turbo setup, TN, JWT, now a 6765 setup hopefully very soon. My goals for this setup will be nothing more than a highway car. From my history on just this forum, I have more than enough experience to voice an opinion, whether in the right or wrong spot.

Hey guys sorry i didnt scan the dyno chart in yet but here is a video of the car getting tunned. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w5ugn5wNKEs

What do you guys think is the best High Flow Cat to go with? I know people did all kind of different setups but I would like to retain close as to stock sts sound as possible. Any advice is appreciated. I might just replace my cats with another set of stock cats. I can tell mine are about to go. Thanks!

I'm not 100% but I think Goosgoose did have the Berk HFC and it didnt last long. Dont bother with the HFC and just go with the ART Pipe. I'm thinking of getting it.

AthenG I had invidia tp but I hated the sound and smell of my car so I changed back to stock. In your opinion what is the next best thing closes to the stock setup. I was thinking of getting the motordyne cats... any thoughts? I can tell my cats are getting bad and they could go. Most likely I will buy someones stock cats if I cant find a solution. Thanks again for the advice guys

Here is a video when I had the TP on the car

(I dont like the rasp but if the car does not get much louder with HFC's I could live with the rasp)

I was in the same boat last year with my TP. It was so loud that I stop enjoying my car because I'm afraid to go WOT. My first advice is maybe go get the XYZ pipe w/ CAT and combine that with a TP. Goosegoose said the XYZ pipe (w/ CAT) did gave him a noticeable improvement on throttle response. You can also add a pass through muffler from Magnaflow to replace the muffler on our midpipe. If that is still to loud then the next step is get the Motordyne Art Pipe to replace the TestPipe. There are some good reviews about the Art Pipe reducing drone/rasp and loudness. Base on the reviews it is just as loud as the HFC or maybe a little quieter. Or do the opposite and go get the Art Pipe first and then get the XYZ pipe with CAT..

this is a huge misconception that just adding testpipes will be raspy.

it's a combination of what exhaust you have also. I think the exhaust plays a huge part in it because i hear a lot of exhausts for the 350z that i think are raspy and ricy for the 350z and they still have cats.

I have borla exhaust, headers, and tp and i haven't had a single bit of rasp from day 1.

Hi Harvin, I'm sorry to hear that you had to go back to stock because the test pipe rasp so much on you.

In my honest opinion, I would get the ART Race pipe (test pipe replacement) if you are looking to kill rasp/ drone etc. You'll be surprised that the ART race pipe doesn't sound as loud as your conventional test pipes, it minimize drone and rasp and the best of all, the performance gain you’ll get across the board on top of the conventional test pipe.

So if you enjoy power, and would like to keep the noise of your sound under control, minimize rasp/ drone, then you can't go wrong with the ART race pipes. Please feel free to PM me or email me if you have any other questions or inquiries about your setup, I'll do my best to assist you.

here is a link to one of the many positive independent reviews on the ART race pipes:

Further more, Motordyne is going to exhibit in Spocom this year in Long Beach, CA 7/18. We are having a 10% show discount event to the first 500 happy folks. If you are looking to purchase the parts soon, I can put you on our pre-order list and lock down your discount for you. Let me know if you would like to be on that list

hey guys have a question for athens g say if i rebuilt my z engine with forged internals would it be best to stay stock compression with .020 bore with the sts turbo kit would that be a good idea cuz i know the sts turbo kit runs better off the stock engine. just a thought what you would think anybody can chime in if they want.

It really depend how much boost you want to run and what turbo to use. I wouldn’t go with stock compression but if it is my car then I think I will be running 9.5:1 piston. Dont even think of running the STS stock turbo with a built motor because that is going to run out of gas above 12+ psi.

oh ok but if your going lower compression thats mean you would have to go with a bigger turbo and higher boost, i thought the sts relied on the vq's high compression for a faster spool cuz of the piping or am i wrong?

Yes the STS turbo is perfect for stock motor but that is about it. If want more power then you need a bigger trubo regardless of what compression piston you have. The turbo is going to max out above 12psi so there is not much room there. If you are going to build a motor then why not lower the compression so you can run higher boost...
