stay away from sts!!! i bought my kit in oct 2008. i was told 2/3 weeks 4 delivery.it took almost 3 months 2 get my kit in! my kit minus the filter sock that was supposed 2 b included was installed by one of thier venders(they wouldnt do the install and tune themselves, even though i live 20 minutes from them) after the kit was installed we found that the utech was defective. was told 2 weeks, took 2 months 2 get a new harness!!! then we find out the walbro is defective. thank god i didnt need 2 order that threw sts! about 1000 miles after install my moter goes BOOM! 4 OF THE 6 BOLTS THAT BOLT ON THE COMPRESSOR HOUSING on my turbo r gone! these bolts r suposed 2 b torqed down upon assembly.bcuz of this i lost oil and my engine was a loss. took it 2 local dealer rick squire looked at it there. he replaced the turbo under warrenty and hung me out 2 dry 4 the engine.i was told it was the installers job 2 make sure every was tight. ty sts.i will b posting my story everywhere i think u might get costomers from.

Default merry xmas!

So I was planning on putting a turbo on my 04' Z
Over the last 3 days I have spent over 8+ hours catching up on this thread. All 127 pages! The fact that so many of the original buyers of this kit have sold it (except for athenG), that it usually comes with missing/incorrect parts, and STS customer service sucks to say the very very least! (sorry Julian, danielW, and a few others...) has forced me to go with the boosted performance mid-mount instead. Not too mention I have been quoted three (3) (1+2) (1x3) different prices from their "sales department" who seem to all undercut each other and offer free or upgraded things at their personal discretion in order to make the sale here and now. Made me feel like I was dealing with a car dealership instead of someone looking to actually help me out. too bad, the kit looked promising too.....

Call me old fashioned, but customer service is still the #1 priority in my book!

This kit has been freakishly reliable for me and I have no regret. I still have the original kit and not a single problem. Having said that, you cant go wrong with Boosted Perf. mid-mount kit. Between the the mid-mount and STS I will recommend that you go with the boosted performance because it will give you more leg room for more power.

where the rear mounted STS turbo is, there is actually room for a much bigger turbo than the midmount setups. A few mods and you could put a large framed T6 turbo back there.

The problem with a larger turbo is that you would have to loosen some bolts to clock the scroll. While this does not seem like a big deal, loosening the bolts could cause an oil leak that could blow your motor up....

Just taking a jab. But for real, I agree with you and suprised that there are not more large turbo swaps with the STS kit yet. Tons of room back there.

ok so after buying the sts kit from goosegoose which has an upgraded turbo with upgraded intercooler. I'm not going to take any chances until i get the gauges i need to monitor my engine. After reading about the guy that blew his engine cuz of some bolts missing on the turbo. But still going to install the sts turbo especially after watching harvin*****'s video great video. I still have 2 more months till i come home from the desert.

^what gauge will prevent you from being an idiot? LOL. maybe an oil pressure gauge may have saved him.

But seriously, dont let gauges lure you into a false sense of security. realistically you never watch them while driving, so unless it has an alert, it will go unnoticed for some period of time. And secondly, if you do see a problem, chances are damage is already done. You have to be preventative in your safetly measures, not reactionary. I;d imagine thats well ingrained to the military folks

Seriously, you could fit a SP quick spool valve and a huge turbo. Match that to a hi revving motor with 1 3/4" primary headers to dual 2.5" collectors to 3" T6 flange keep the speed up.... can you say gt47-88 or PTE 88mm billet. OMFG! You could build that for pretty dam cheap using aftermarket y pipe to a cheap single exhaust. Cut off the muffler, weld on a T6 flange. boo ya, 1200whp

way earlier than that. i can spool my twin 6262 to 38 psi by ~6000 rpms. with a 8500 rpm motor, you;d have ~3000 rpm powerband with a 88mm turbo. No different than a common greddy, just much right shifted and like 500 whp more.

I run 8psi and about 35K miles in the span of 3.5 years now. Also around 20-25 trip to the 1/4 mile and lots of WOT pull on the street because I also do my own tuning. I still have the same air filter from STS.. lol I just clean them once a year though...
