the car 90k on the motor, the brain haltech platinum pro. i left the tips as it was at first cuz it came off a g35 which is a little longer but i think i will stay with a built vq motor. would my 6265 be good enough for another 100 hp to the wheels? Cuz this one was kind of laggy cuz of size of turbo.

ok guys so i found out the rod pin gave out and shot a hole through my block was looking at a build right now found a bare block for a couple of hundred dollars. thought about 9.0:1 compression.
Wiseco Pistons
Piston Ring set
Wrist pins
Eagle Rods with caps or optional Super A Carrillo Rods
Nissan OEM Gasket kit (Optional Cometic Head Gaskets)
ACL Engine Bearings (Rods, Mains, Thrust)
AAM basic fuel return line.
let me know what you guys think for a budget build and reasonable 400whp build. unless you have a better suggestion or idea thanks.

Are you going to have the same shop do the build that tuned your car? To minimize the potential risk of blowing your "built" motor have one shop do everything.

busted rod pin? has anyone even had one of those break before?

for 400whp, i'd just get another stock long block for 800$ and call it a day. Unless you are going to build the motor yourself, you'll be in for at least 5-7000$ to get a motor built and put in.

looking at short block for 2600 stage 1 and just purchased a disassemble longblock for 200 that was a little rusty and going to use that as a core charge talked to import parts pro and they said that they would take it for 750 core charge well my mechanic said it was still rebuildable for them. So going to call ipp tomorrow everything is still good heads and other stuff he said he would install for a decent price. but short block take about 3 weeks to make and ship to me. So i'm probably looking at about a month and a half build time hopefully all together.

Your boost kick in very late. When I spoke to Goosegoose, he said there wasnt much lag compare to his old turbo. Ho big is your Y-pipe and test pipe? anyways, does your shop has experience tuning a VQ engine? what was your A/F when you were boosting and isnt that Haltech has a knock detection? Was it calibrated right?

This was also a miled out, tired stock VQ. I know that the turbo is further back, but it should not be that laggy. What hot side do you have on that 6265?

Well my y-pipe is a megan racing y-pipe and test pipes are berk test pipes. well he has tuned a couple of g35's with the vortech, and tuned a corvette and transam ws6 with the twin sts turbo kits. He mostly does hondas and subarus, and evo's. I believe the haltech does have knock detection, and i'm not sure if it was calibrated right because i know nothing of tuning sorry. my a/f readings i don't really remember know i only had car for less than 2 days.

Dam, it broke too fast... Like I always say, "Parts don`t have word, they can break even when everything is perfectly done"

What size is the original STS kit turbo? is it a GT35 or smaller?

Anyone know where I can tap to get an RPM signal for a 03 G? In doing some research here is what I have come up with

-Pin 62 on the ECU (wire color does not match the diagram)
-buy a tach signal converter
-tap the yellow wire on the coil going to cyl one terminal one

Thanks.

What is the size and specs that the STS turbo runs? My turbo blew out... the fins are messed up. Does anyone know how much it costs to rebuild it? Has anyone rebuilt it themselves?

but i think goosegoose had a built motor at the time. my y-pipe is a megan racing y-pipe, and my test pipes are berk test pipes, i had strup headers but swapped back to oem headers that where coated and wrapped. the shop experience with the VQ engine i would rate them with a 6 out of 10 on experience but this guy is pretty honest at his work if he doesn't feel comfortable with a certain platform he will tell you, i told him i had the turboxs utec originally and he was not very comfortable with it and said he would recommend something like a aem or haltech.
