i might have to remove the 2.87 serp pulley and reinstall the 3.12 pulley with this Si-trim it is making alot of boost for the stock block.we will see when i get this setup retuned, i might have to play around with running a wastegate to keep the peak boost at 11 to 12 psi. i cant belive how quick the boost comes on at the lower RPM'S. my good freind mike has a vortech z with the 2.87 pulley setup running around 11psi at 6600 rpm. the difference in the power curve between his setup and mine is unbelivable! we took his z out for a ride shortly after mine for comparisson and he was just amazed. he is already talking about sending his unit out for this upgrade, i told him to hold on and wait till i get tuned to see what kind of max boost numbers i will be hitting.it is not so much the max boost i am interested in but in how the power curve starts earlier in the rpm range! like i said before i am hitting 11lbs of boost by 5000 RPM, i can only speculate what max boost will be at 7000rpm and hopefully have no belt slipping issues. only a tune a GTM will be able to give us the final numbers and see what potential this setup has.

nice. Seems like a lot of potential. Not bad for a $350 upgrade!

do you have a dyno sheet from GTM before with the original blower? I can't remember if I saw it or not.
Sounds like you might hit like 16-18 psi if you took it up to 7100 rpms which should be about 50whp more worth of power over the stock blower

I'm curious about the sound it has and just how much louder it really is. Can your new camera take video that you can post on youtube?

it almost sounds like a roots style blower. the sound overpowers my exhaust, i am running the aps 2.5" dual system with 2.5" aps test pipes and i can here the blower well over the exhaust!

well i guess thats the only good news about my bad bearing vortech. gona get the SI upgrade while its there.

That's a great idea. You might as well take advantage of the blower going bad and upgrading. I wish I would have known about the Si trim when my blower went bad.

Interesting. So the "Jet-Like" sound that many use to describe the Vortech is gone with the SI Trim? Do you by any chance know how the T trim sounds compared to the stock blower & SI trim?

I have always been a fan of Vortech's sound. Never been such a fan of roots-type blowers in terms of its screaching-sound.

11psi at 5000rpm sounds very nice. Looking forward to seeing some dynos from this, I may have to upgrade here soon

Pics look good !!!!! At some point Im sure you know that your belts will start slipping . At what point [psi] the new belt set ups will slip at I dont know . It will be interesting to see how much can be made . I put a larger blower pulley on my T-trim and now am making about the same boost as you . 11 psi at 5000rpm and 19psi at 6600rpm .

There are somw cheaper ways to bleed off boost other than a wastegate . My shop tried using a preasure regulator hooked up the the stock BOV and it seemed to work pretty well . Quamen also had mentioned something he knew to bleed off boost also .

Good luck ....I will be watching the progress .

thank you booger! i know from reading some of your past threads you have alot of experiance in the vortech realm of making boost. any insight you have on this subject will be greatly appreciated and i like to learn from other individuals mistakes and positive progress. i will be curious to see at what point in the boost/rpm range i will encounter belt slipping problems with the rev-up set up. so far no belt slip but we will see on the dyno. the limiting factor with this project will be my stock block, that is why i am going to have to configure a waste gate or regulator valve of some sort to limit the max boost to 11 or 12 psi with the stock block. but i do love how the boost comes in higher at the lower rpm range whick makes the car pull so much harder down low.

a built engine will have to be the next step. i am actually thinking of building the engine with the stock 10.3:1 C/R but having premium rods and pistons to handel the higher boost levels, i do run 100 octane fuel religously and this car is a toy for me not a DD. what do you feel is the optimum C/R for a built engine on a s/c installation running higher boost.

Yes...its so much more stronger down low compared to the stock blower . I never did play around much with the regulator thing [ 4 or 5 runs on the dyno and I took it off ] At what rpm were you making 13psi ? Redline ? Thats where my belt started slipping at . It was around 5900rpm and boost would go up and down real quick from 13 to 14.9psi .

LOL...your asking the wrong guy for that question . But if you were to do it , it would make a big difference in the upper psi levels . Better ask a good engine builder on that one

i was making 13 psi with the sc-trim at 7100 RPM. i rarley hit that driving the z around. i would usually shift at 6600 rpm which was 11 psi on the boost gauge.
