Default Vortech Question

Alright I hae 2 quick questions, I am going to install my vortech tomorrow morning, but I was wondering if I did half tomorrow install pulley mount w/o cog or drive belt installed, intercooler and piping, and ran my ss box, not plugged in though if I could drive my car sat morning, like if I hooked the air filter up to the charger, then install the rest oil and gas on sat?

Also I bought this used and I was wondering what I need to put behind the power steering cooler to attach to the radiator, I bought some tie backs but do I need to put any type of foam between them like 3m tape??

Thanks guys

cog belt off , you can rive it but your intake will suck air from the BPV not the filter on the blower. I would just not install the elbow tube ppiece going into ur intake and cover it in some foam piece so it bypasses the whole ic piping and blower

I do this about every winter . When i had the stock IC pipes . I would dis-connect it where it turns down behind the blower. I would clamp a piece of foam or paper furnace filter over the end of it . I then would re set thee ECU . Take off the blower belt and then your good to go

Without the drive belt you won't have power steering and your altenator will be working overtime.

ok so you guys are saying to install the intercooler and piping, but put a filter on the elbow after the MAF and cap the pipe that leads to the intercooler and the one after to the charger right??

Do this:

- Install the whole kit except for the oil feed and return lines like you mentioned
- Hookup the serpentine belt since it runs your power steering & alternator which you need to drive the car
- Leave the cog belt off so that your SC is not spinning (without oil it will seize)
- Disconnect the charge pipe that connects to the MAF housing and place a filter or screen there so you can drive NA

Then hit up your shop, finish that install and get that thing tuned!

Hope that helps

^ yup, exactly what asian and the others said. You may want to cap off the charge pipe coming out of your intercooler heading up to the the charge pipe before the MAF so that you make sure no debris falls in for when you hook it back up.

You can hook up or leave hooked up the oil feed and return lines with no problem . Oil will go in the blower and drain back into the motor...no problems
