Utec or Haltech EMS?
Wow...forgot I even looked at the Utec and Haltech back then. It has been a long time since I started this build and it has been a difficult journey. I'm not at the end of the journey yet, but I'm very close to ending the last of the haunting issues.
I will post a full build thread when the car is finally completed and I get down the track at full boost on slicks. Currently, I have run 25 passes (roughly) at about 1/2 throttle at 12(or so)PSI on street tires and pump gas. I'm running consistent 12.4-12.5 with no traction and that is, I'll re-iterate at HALF throttle. I believe the Pro-EFI has some rough edges at this point, but it is running smoothly and the issues I have do not appear to be related to it. Also, I give credit at least in part to the Pro-EFI for the high performance I am getting out of it. At 1/2 throttle at low boost and at 100 degrees F, a 12.4 is quite respectable, IMHO.

Guys, Dont mean to thread jack, but upon my search this appeared to be a good spot to ask a question.
Went to get tuned yest. at rs motors in mpls. Ron was awesome, and answered any questions I had. He told me about a problem (that still exists) they had with the car even with the old owner.
Basically at totally sparatic times, the rpms will "jump".
when logging the rpms are rising but then it will mis-read..
example - 4125-4179-4210-2120-4250 etc.. it just happens once usually and just long enough to notice and throw things off.. The 3rd pull he made it actually caused the car to hit rev limit at only 5700 rpms.....
He is calling out the utec. He said he has had issues with it the whole time, and always tried to get the old owner to switch to a hydra ems...
I am wondering if anyone else has had this issue? if so, did you change the crankshaft position sensor? did this help? fix? or is this a common problem on the g35 running utec?
(if there is a better post to put this in let me know and I will delete and re-enter.. Thanks)

Thsi is as valid a revival as we can get... he even referenced that he knows he bumped something from the grave.
15lb Test, if you don't get any good advice in this thread, try sending a PM to djamps, he tunes his own utec and may be able to help you find the glitch in your software.

back when i had the utec, i had this problem. its an issue with the crank angle sensor, in my case it was mostly the JWT flywheel's trigger ring. try to clean the wheel (you can just pull the sensor out and clean it with a wire brush).
Also, as crazy as it sounds, when i was running out of options, i installed a grounding kit and the issues mostly went away (with the bad trigger wheel). Can't hurt, I'd give both of those a try.

What type of grounding kit was it? battery to body, or regrounding the utec?
Does anyone feel that switching to a haltech will solve the issue? i am considering a switch to that, 1100 injectors, double pump and E85...

I purchase the car with the setup on it after purchasing I started noticing some issues long story short I just went to have it tuned and we found that the rp m's were jumping ... no tune completed .
have to fix the issue first . original ems is the current setup on it utech ... I do not have stock injectors .
out of curiosity, what would stock injectors back in accomplished?

as I had said in the original post you only notice the rp m's jump when you are logging. you cannot see anything on the tach... this is why I had originally thought that maybe it was a sensor of some sort
i assume you check over all the pins in the UTEC wiring harness? There's obviously nothing wrong with the car or any sensor since the car runs fine and its only a data acquisition error
