looks like a great install, love that plenum. Question though, it looks like they used rtv to seal the downpipe to the turbo. Why didn't they use a gasket there, do you think that will hold up to the heat fromt he turbo since it's only good till 700 degrees?

Pitty about your DEFI's. DEFI quality showing its true colours. All show, and no go.
Don't hate on the defi's, for ease of wiring and the features they offer, they are worth it. I have had experience with varias gauges, and they are as accurate as I would need them to be.

in regards to his AFR, he is running test pipes, no cats. APS pipes none the less... probably the best parts on the car.

The RTV is the proper method for this application.

398whp at 6.5psi is still impressive. 487whp is just ridiculous and a bit misleading for those that don't understand correction factors.

Im going to have to agree with Craig here on this one

I agree, and that's the same thing I mentioned earlier but no one seemed to notice. I've seen the sniffers be off up to one point as you stated, and quite regularly.

I wonder if he has a wideband and what it's reading.

The UTEC is still the best sub $1000 system for FI VQ35's, IMHO.

i completely agree, we installed and tuned over 70 utecs last year alone. every problem i ran into was solved by upgrading the firmware and really getting to know why the utec does what it does. i have had no problems at all with them lately. i have seen a lot of poorly tuned utecs come in with issues that should have been resolved and the customer was told that the utec just does that.

you cant beat a utec for under 1000 dollars and a mild to mild/medium build.

Jeremy,

whats considered a "mild to mild/medium build"? I thought there really wasn't much of a difference in the build, but more along the lines of the power you wanted, which would dictate the ECU one should run?

Sorry i dont like defi. All the useless features that 90% of users dont use, they just talk about em. Just like a dyno queen talks about his hp. IMO you cant get a simple boost gauge right, u deserve no props at all. Guages should be accurate to the dime, otherwise its just an expensive light show. People get pissed off at dyno queens, well i get pissed off at rice gauges.

Don't worry about it guys. Honestly its childish and I'm embarrassed I bit at his bate.

Back on topic: Really enjoying the car. Went on a cruise through the mountains and it was a blast. Only complaint I have is I keep forgeting I don't need to downshift for power. LOL

I'd be embarrassed too if I were you.

Whats the over/under on the time line until he shuts this thread down, then re-opens it a few days later?

The only person that has the power to get Robert to close a thread is Dr Doug
