Default Diameter of the fuel line for 600~700whp application

I know I can just buy the CJM's stage 2 kit, but I have my reason...(Shipping cost for shipping a pre-formed line in a huge @$$ box to Korea)... So, please help me with this without blasting me to get CJM stage 2 kit. BTW I already have a CJM stage 1 FRS and a CJM twin pump assembly is on order.

I'm looking at the summit racing website and they sell aluminum fuel lines with 3/8in or 1/2in in diameter. They also sell -8 AN braided flex line. I know aluminum lines need to be bent carefully with a right tool. Let's not worry about that. I have the right tool. Then which line would you suggest for 600~700whp application? Flex braided line would be the easiest to setup I think, but I'm a little hesitant to use it because of the fuel vapor sweating thing... I guess a good alternative would be the teflon wrapped flex line, but I can't seem to find it online.. <- Can anyone tell me where I can get this?

Thanks in advance.
Jay

You should use a -8 feed line, run the twin -6's from the fuel pump assembly to a Y into a -8.

-8 is 8/16 = 1/2".

Consider picking up a inline fuel filter to put in the -8 hose. The OEM fuel filter is in the stock assembly, so when going to any twin pump assembly you loose the fuel filter and only have the fuel pump pickup screens.

Like this? This is gonna be the reference for my setup.

What about the vapor sweating issue of those braided flex lines? 1/2in aluminum line would be the best choice then, right?

Which brand of -8 AN fuel filter would you recommend, so it doesn't become a bottle neck? Would this work?

you could use aluminum hardline, but its pretty soft stuff. our stage 2 kits used aluminum for a very short time because we found that it was so soft it was hard to even ship it to the customer without it getting bent in shipping... maybe a dozen kits went out like that before changing to stainless pipe... which isnt typically soft at performance shops because you cant buy it in a roll, it comes straight and you have to bend it from there.

so, the aluminum will work, but i prefer to use stainless if you want a hardpipe.

a filter just like that one would be great, but 85 microns is rather large, thats more like a prepump filter... you want something more like 10/20/30 micron inbetween the pump and rails.

Phunk, is another consideration b/w SS and AL the fact that AL is reactive with methanol and E85? Are the fuel rails SS or AL?

EDIT: I recall you saying something about E85 conversion for Vipers, but I'm not sure if you said all the fittings and rails are SS...

The rails are aluminum in the CJ kits, and every other rail for the VQ aside from stock for that matter. The only thing SS in the entire CJM kit is the stage 2 hardpipe.

As for Methanol and E85, its not recommended to use aluminum with it in all the articles I have read.

As for the Vipers, those cars did not have SS fuel systems... I dont think anyone has an all SS fuel system on any car that I have ever seen!

Lee, I was just curious, did you have a FPR with the 255 Walboro? And with the CJM fuel pump, which FPR did your tuner recommend?

Best

I have an Aeromotive FPR that came with the CJM stage 1. I think it will be just fine to be used with the CJM twin pump.
