Default 488 whp Vinny Ten Racing

Hi Guys
I just picked up my car from V.T.R. and all I can say is awesome! I have a VTR stg I engine, JWT twin turbo kit with 700’s, Koyo radiator, set of level 5 axels from Driveshaft Shop, RPS clutch with s/s lines, Evo TT Exhaust and AP Racing 6 piston front/4piston rear brake kit. We made 488.45 hp @ 12psi and 436.02 torque on pump gas. We have run this car hard without any overheating or head lift. I love it! I’m breaking in the engine now and after 500 miles, we will turn up the boost. My goal is 500 hp on pump gas which should not be a problem since its only 12 hp from my goal. I recently became concerned over the overheating issues posted on these forums however, Vinny assured me I would not have any of those problems with his engines and he’s right, the car performs flawlessly. Once again, Vinny Ten Racing comes thru!
VTR Rocks!

I dont blame you at all. I thought about switching back. The new HR headbolts are the strongest yet.

With your power level you would run stock head bolts? Not even standard arp bolts?

Standard arp are really not much stronger then the stock headbolts. Nissan knew what they were doing.

I guess the new norm will be to just use stock head bolts and everyone will save at least $600 on there FI builds.

Are you going to be using the regular VQ35DE head bolts or the HR ones? What's the most they can be torqued down at? Has the OEM been proven to be as good or better than the ARP stuff?

Then wouldn't the stock head bolts be only good for up to ~500whp at most? I know for the ARP ones, it says they are good up to ~525whp.

you guys can stick with stock. i just ordered my new shortblock from forged performance and added a set of L19 studs.

To the OP, you got your block built without knowing whats being done?

not to get even more off topic, but ive seen 650whp on stock head studs... and 900whp on the standard APR studs....

That being said, upgrading to L19s is not that big of a deal in the whole scheme of things when buildinga motor, certainly doesnt add any more machining cost unlike 1/2" studs......a lot will depends on the powergoals
