I bought a used kit and thus far have had 2,000 miles of problem free boost. However the road was much longer than most for install. After a replacement turbo, custom oil lines and coolant lines, and sourcing alot of parts myself and fabrication of new parts to allow the kit to fit, I can in about $1000 under what the brand new JWTT would have been however, I feel my setup is better than standard JWT!

I'm not totally opposed to buying used turbo kits. But I would only do so through the person who is doing the install or someone I know fairly well. In my case, Japtrix handles my installs. If I were looking to upgrade and Roger told me he had another customer with a good kit for sale, then I certainly would consider that kit, and have Roger install it. I NEVER would by a used turbo kit off of Ebay or Craig's list.

Excellent write up. You helped me settle on NOT investing in the Stillen SC. While I fell in love with the 1990-1996 Z back in the day and once drove the Stillen (GTZ) version, it appears that better alternatives are available.
I plan to allocate about $10k-$12k to tune my Z not to be a full-blown race car, but one that I can drive (almost) everyday, maintain without a lot of grief, and of course open up and make the weekend-warrior Honda and Subaru tuner be like, DAYYYYYYYYUM...
