there really is a good reason i hardly post anymore, and it is becasue all the questions being asked, me and others have answered SOOO many times. never gunna stop no matter what.
I personally think this was an amazing write up, but if you cant take noobs just dont read their dumb posts. I'll admit I posted one or two when I first registered, blame it on my age I guess, but at least they're trying to learn, even if it is annoying. Everyone starts somewhere.

question: SlideFox listed the basic guages (his opinion) as wideband A/F, oil temp and water temp, why would you also not want to monitor either boost and/or AIT as basic measurement? Wouldn't you be concerned about boost creep? Also, is AIT going to fluctuate within a basic build, or is it of more concern when you start reaching for higher WHP and/or start pushing your car more often?

you can monitor sa much or as little as you want. I think fuel pressure and oil pressure are way more important than the temps.

boost/vacuum gauges are also nice and would be added along with the AF gauge plus the 2 above for the 4 that I run. I'm think ing about oil temp next.

AIT doesnt mean much and those gauges as standalones are way expensive. if you have a properly sized intercooler with adequate flow, thats a non-issue.

Realistically, the crazier the build, the more gauges you want. Under 600whp, you can pick and choose. After that, stuff starts getting more critical.

Great info.
I'm probably asking to be flamed on this, but does anyone have rough 0-60 times for various SC / TT setups? I'm much more used to 0-60 s times as opposed to 1/4 miles times and wanted to see how much faster times would one expect w/ say a vortech SC setup (2.87 pulley, etc).
Is there any data out there on pre-post FI and 0-60 times?

Are there any turbo kits that are legal in California?
My understanding is that only HKS and Vortech supercharges are legal in Cali. But I also came across Greddy site that said some of their Twin Turbo kits are carb legal in all states. Any ideas?

Idk if anyone can really guess about for this but, I was thinking about putting a JWT 530BB kit on and running just low psi (7 or 8) on my DD. During the week i would be doing just easy in town and highway miles, and having more fun with it on the weekends. Without going incredibly harsh on it, how many miles do you think i could get out of it before id have to do a rebuild?

quick question. i understand the main components ill need to do a turbo build for my car...but with the car having 80k miles on it (but treated good), should i just stick with a short block available for sale at performance shops or just buy cams, pistons, rods ect by itself? just want to know which route will relatively help the motor last as long as it can lol? thanks

If the rods are the weak link, what kind of horsepower would a rod/piston swap be capable of? I was looking at a rod/piston set with wiseco pistons and eagle rods...

It's time to reboot the initial info... new turbo kits, update the info in the SC section and buyer beware, some of the turbo manufactures went bankrupt, lol!

as a potential FI noob, i won't even dare ask questions here,
