Default JWT TT on stock block - noise with a/c on

Hey guys,

I've been on boosted with the jwt tt on the stock block for about 7k miles now. The weathers been pretty hot these days and I started using the ac. For some reason, with the ac on, I get a grinding type of noise when the car is in gear. Its not all the time, but happens, especially when im in gear letting the revs drop. Without using the ac, there is no such noise, car runs great. Car is tuned on utec, its been running great, but the noise sounds like there something wrong. anbody have a similar issue?

You've got to find out what is vibrating or rubbing... The radiator fans kick on when the AC is on, so I'd start looking in that area. Also on the JWT kit, the intake charge pipe makes it way near AC piping on the driver's side near the front by the air filter. Check to see that nothing is touching there. If it is, try to move things apart a little bit, or protect the contact point somehow (rubber, felt, cloth, duct tape!).

Good luck!

Did you check the belt tension on the A/C? The only thing I could see is the belt is not tensioned properly.

Well put.

I bet with the low RPM "shaking" of the engine, you are getting some contact near that AC pulley, belt, or some other moving part in that location. Take a look and report back.

the A/C belt is always rotating no matter if A/C on or off. There is no adjustment for compressor position only belt tension. That said I'd suspect belt tension OR part of the A/C clutch is bad. I'd look at the a/c clutch, the front plate on mine actually came off when it was in the shop.
