or in this case a 3rd time

OP...sry for your loss....but reading the whole thread you seemed to be pretty cavalier without a properly tuned motor....I would have called something like this happening. GL nevertheless. Gonna be a fun winter.

350Rookie.

Take the longblock apart, and send us the shortblock. Don't take the shortblock apart please, becuase we need to inspect a few things before teardown. We can rebuild it for you again. Hopefully it just needs one piston, fresh set of rings, and machining. It's not the end of the world.

I am not going to repeat with others have already said, but tuning and fuel is so critical. You are the first person to ever break one of our engines/pistons....so hope that makes you feel a little bit better....or maybe worse....

Well anyways, just send it back.

I was just sipping a beer and thinking, maybe it wasn't the plug that disintegrated - maybe it was a chunk of piston or burnt valve that took out the electrode.

Also OP, did you pull the turbo and check the turbine side to make sure there is no damage, if indeed some debris did exit the exhaust valves?

Because I see that you have the kit up for sale in the marketplace, and I wouldn't want to see you sell someone a chewed up turbo - accidentally or not.

Or maybe the rod shot up and took out the plug

Alright guys, here are updates. Head is finished. Im not sure if it can be welded and redone.

The walls on CYL 3 do not seem that bad. It does look like its scored up bad but it does not even catch my finger nail. However the piston is kinda dinged up. Im gonna see what sharif says about this. I can feel a grand or 2 waitin to drop off my pockets. Dammit

Here are pics

Another thing i noticed, my crank pulley is cracked. So i also gotta replace that. might as well go with an aftermarket one. Any suggestions?

did you have any strange noises coming from the engine as a result of that cracked pulley

Head is done, not worth the risk or hassle of trying to fix it when used heads are cheap and easy to find.

As for the bore, you might get away with just a rehone. Like you said, leaving it to Sharif's discretion is the best idea. Does that block have stock 95.5mm pistons or 96mm in it?

I wouldn't mess around with that head, start looking for a used head.
As for the piston and cyclinder walls...I dunno....leave that one to the pros to decide.

Check the turbo too, those pieces had to go somewhere.

Next time, tune tune tune tune

I hate seeing pictures like this. Well, it looks like the S1 Shortblock held up fine....it was the valve that wasnt so lucky. Look at the bright side! You do all your own work, so you save a bundle!

By the looks of those pics, the cylinder walls can be lightly honed. Replace the cylinder head with another stock one...I have plenty on the shelf that we use as cores. And some new rings, and maybe one new piston.
