Did detonation cause this? UPDATED PICS Pg: 5
The other day, i went WOT though 5 gears and when i came to a stop, my car started misfiring. It was cyl 3 misfire So i pulled the plug to find this plug beat to hell. LOL
Here is a picture but what can causethis. is it possible for that elctrode peice that broke off to still be in the cylinder. Im gonna send a magnet down the cylinder hole to see if it picks up any metal and then do a compressin test to make sure the walls aint ****ed up..

how old are the plugs? how many miles are on them? it is possible detonation in that cylinder could have caused the grounding electrode to come off, or that one plug could have been defective from the manufacture. BTW that small electrode peice that came off probably bounced around the cyclinder chamber for a bit and then exited the exhaust valve. or it could be logged into the top of the piston. i tore down a small block ford a while back and when i pulled the cyclinder heads off i found a small screw imbedded in the head of the #7 piston. i appeared that it was there for a while and that engine never skipped a beat.

the plug has about 20k miles on it. its 1 step colder plug too. I thnk it was caused by detonation, other wise, no reason on why it shoulda broken off.

The NGK one step colder. I just ordered new plugs. I also put a magnet down there but couldnt catch nothing. Im kinda worried theres still something in the cylinder. Its too much work to pop the head off. Im gonna do a compression test tomorow to see what i pull. Hopefully and i pray to god, my wall is safe.

Please tell me this isnt from the brand new shortblock we sent you a couple months ago. Why are you putting 20K mile spark plugs into a brand new short block? But yes, that looks like a lot of heat/detonation.
Do a compression test ASAP, and drop some new plugs in there. Has the engine been fully tuned yet?

dude i feel bad for you!!!!!!!!!! not because of the spark plug, but for the fact that you are about to be brow beatin by the top 350z tuners................i can just feel the ugly and mean looks comin through the monitor right now
