turbo without oil
ok say you did an oil change and forgot to put oil back in the car (this did not happen, just an example) and started the car, how long would it take approx to mess up a turbo from just the oil left in the lines and what not. would the motor be damaged before the turbo or the other way around. this is just at idle, were not talking driving or revving it up just idle.
thats kinda what i was thinking i figure the turbo isnt seeing much heat and not spinning all that fast but i'm not too sure if will still be ok to spin with no oil

ok what really happened was a friend wrecked my car, he hit a curb and it took out the oil pan and hes not sure how long it ran (i think he's just scared to tell me) so anyway insurance is covering the damage but they want to just give me a new oil pan along with other parts that were damaged but i'm concerned about the turbos and engine, If we put a pan on it and start it and there is something wrong the insurance will cover it but if there are no noises im afraid of what may possibly go wrong in a few weeks or months from the oil starvation. From the pics he sent the car lost all the oil pretty much instantly. So i dont really care if the motor is trash since the insurance will cover it but i am worried about the turbos since that is not covered.
I had an oil filter blow off during ZdayZ. It was in the middle of a high speed run. It was caught on video and I counted about 15 seconds from the moment it started spewing oil before the engine was turned off (I had no idea - was wearing a helmet that limited peripheral vision). A new oil filter and 5 qts later... car purred right back up.
Dyno showed same power levels. UOA on oil change 1000 miles after the event showed no trace metals or signs of unusual wear. I thought those two would be the best measures to assess any damage.
Best of luck...

One time in the shop, some kid does a half oil change. he drains it, new filter and tightens oil pan bolt. I was doing other work on the same car. he doesnt tell me he never put oil back in the car and he leaves. So after im done with my car, i start the car and its running find. I lower the car on the lift after about a 1 minute and see that the oil cap is off. I JUMP in the car, turn it off and check the oil. nothing. lol. Thank god that engine didnt sieze. customer wouldnt have been to happy.

........you could go for a ride around the block, seize the engine and still probably have a healthy turbo.it's all about boost.
