- I keep getting ideas and then seeing them on your car before mine gets on the road, I may see a pattern

BTW, I still need your help with the top of the harness, maybe next weekend after the paint is done.

we got held up on parts from your old heads...but figured I would show you the guides we made Thursday.

We did the original design of these for Ferrea, and have since improved upon them

During install the guide from the manufacture has a lip right at the taper. All manufactures have this, from every type of head, because they are machined and not cast like the factory guides. We run a copper bronze on the exhaust because it will withstand more heat then the regular bronze guide. Although, we have honestly ran the standard bronze up to 70psi, with no issues. We just like to put it in their for extra safety. The bronze guide dissipates heat better then the stock cast iron piece and won't break sending pieces in your engine if the pistons and valves decide they want to kiss.

So...anyway we chuck them up on the lathe

And this is the end result...top one is standard, bottom is ours. Besides..it just looks better!lol

factory guide and ours....

More pics to come!!!!!!!!!!!

parts should be arriving today via FedEx...and FedEx is FAR from on point with their delivery times, so nothing will be done today. Expect more pics tomorrow or Thursday. Next lesson will be how a valve job is performed.

I'm finally all set up for paint tomorrow or Thursday. If anyone is considering this, be prepared to spend a ton of time taping things off and covering up for overspray. I think I spent almost $50 just in plasic tarps and tape and almost 6-8 hours in prep time to get everything ready.

The painter called today to tell me some of my other goodies have been finished, so hopefully a bunch more pics over the next few days. Things are coming together again and I can almost see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Dave at F:T gave me a heads up a while back that proved to be helpful, for less that $30 I was able to upgrade my basic AAA membership to the Premium Membership and it gives me 4 free tows a year of up to 100 miles each. No more $200-$400 tow bills to Hills or F:T.

I used to have the AAA tow service, good stuff. Just had to wait longer since i could only use flat bed tows.

Check your insurance, the other day i found in my contract that they actually cover the cost of towing for me free of charge up to 100 bucks. I just send them the receipt They never mentioned that to me when i signed up lol.

Cass: rad DIY project--why not spend some time with your Z in the garage since you can't really enjoy it otherwise? Btw, do my eyes spy a Black & Decker "chainsaw-on-a-stick" there in the back, behind the bike?

Why yes, that is my chainsaw on a stick. Chainsaw not currently attached. Out here in the sticks pruning is a must

My insurance has that same thing. Only crappy part is you still have to pay for tow, then get reimbursed.
Beauty of AAA, is you just call them and its done. Used it 1 time. Great B-day gift from my brother. There are other perks to AAA (free gas if you runout, discounted travel deals, discounted rental cars....etc)

I got a bunch of stuff back from various places today, but my wife took the camera this morning, so pics will be tomorrow most likely. Paint tomorrow as well, primer, 3 coats of blue and then 2 coats of clear.
