Default 06 powerlab install underway

started the install last night. Everything got torn off of the car that needed to be be gone and i hope to start putting things back on today. Is there anyone on here that has done the install on an 06? I believe jeffie and snyper were both 03 models. I am stuck trying to figure out how to get the Middle up pipe in to place. It either hits the steering rack, the fire wall or the shield that is on the motor mount. Is there anything extra that you guys moved out of the way to get this pipe to work? ANY tips or tricks to make this install smoother for me is greatly appreciated.

Pics will be up later today.

this does not seem to be in the way. I am in the process of bending the power steering lines a little to get the out of the way. What did you use to bend them? the 2x4 is not doing the trick..

thanks keith

the mid up-pipe will NOT fit in here. I have all of the bolts loose on the crossover pipe and there is still not enough room to connect the mid pipe to the up pipe. any help?? I feel like no matter how much i twist the pipe it will not line up. maybe the pipe was welded or made wrong. or maybe more things i have to do because i have an 06?

thanks keith

I am afriad you may have to perform some heavy modifications to get that pipe to fit. On the TN kits, the obstructions from the 06 steering rack revisions are serious. Let us know how it goes. We havent install a Powerlab kit yet, so I wish I could give you some more advise.

Keith,

It looks as if you were sent the 03-05 specific pipe. I will look at the check sheet tomorrow morning when I return to work and get back at you. If you did get the 03-05 pipe, I will get the 06 one out to you via air. My apologies, in advance, as I'm almost certain that is the issue.

yeah i talked to him about the pipe, he said it was the right one. I put the grinder to the tranny and bent the power steering lines and still no fit. I hope this is just the wrong pipe. tomorrow when you find out can someone give me a call or shoot me a email. pete should have my number.

thanks keith

+1 this is why i buy from intense..
even tho sharif stated the clearance on the steering rack for the 06s is serious. i managed to make a custom steering like wich i only had to slighty dent the pipe instead of almost flattening it =)

I think Darren hit the nail on the head. I suspected the same thing as soon as I read the OP. That's the only logical explanation I can think of for why that mid up pipe won't fit on your '06. It's gotta be the wrong '03-'05 pipe section.

D will take care of ya!

Good luck with the rest of your install.

Keith,

I hope that you are ready that the kit might have fitment issues that require welding/cutting whatever..

Also, the WG spring is a .4 bar 6 or 7 psi spring so if you want to run 9 psi you better buy the spring now (or get a manual BC). I got my car tuned last night at 6 psi because I had no idea the kit came with that one but hey I'm satisfied for now

For me, they had to cut the IC pipes and even extend the dump tube piping for it to fit. From what I hear though this is pretty standard when it comes to turbo kits.

^^^ I plan on using a BC. I know all turb kits have issues. That's why you pay to play. I really hope that I got sent the wrong pipe, if not alllllot of cutting, welding will need to take place. Maybe even making a custom pipe. Thanks everyone for all of the help !

I'm pretty sure you have the wrong pipe cause from the pics it looks like the pipe for the 03-05.

Oh and also.. don't risk bending your oil pan and get one of these. It isn't too wide and it has a hammer end.

AND don't forget the PB blaster :-) If you didn't have this already.

I'll try to help you as much as I can. I couldn't finish mine myself because of fitment issues.. just be ready!
