Resetting Idle after re-flash
I recently upgraded to the Fcon & had my ecu re-flashed. The problem is when you start the car even after it's warmed up it idles at 2k plus and after a minute or so will slowly drop. It also tends to hang up, say I shift at 3000 rpm the idle may only drop a few 100 rpm or less before hitting the next gear and it makes the car herky jerky and really hard to shift smoothly.
My first tuner told me to go to nissan and have the idle relearned but he also said there is a manual way to relearn the idle, does anyone know or can you lead me to were I can find out how to do a manual reset. I'm not having any luck getting the tuner to email me directions. And being most of the smart guys hang out here in the FI section thought I'd have a better chance of finding an answer.
I don't have a problem with taking it to nissan but if I can do this myself or at least try then why not save the money and hassle of taking it to the dealer. I'd appreciate the help and yes I searched first

This may help - throttle, not idle.

I have also heard member say that cleaning the throttle body has helped this problem.
Found this in another thread:

Hope that helps.

Idle Air Volume Learning (Throttle Position Learning)
It is better to count the time accurately with a clock.
Operation Procedures
1. Perform “Accelerator Pedal Released Position Learning”.
2. Perform “Throttle Valve Closed Position Learning”.
3. Start engine and warm it up to normal operating temperature.
4. Turn ignition switch “OFF” and wait at least 10 seconds.
5. Conform that accelerator pedal is fully released, turn ignition switch “ON” and wait 3 seconds.
6. Repeat the following (steps 7a, 7b) procedures quickly five times within 5 seconds.
7a. Fully depress the accelerator pedal (HARD)
7b. Fully release the accelerator pedal.
8. Wait 7 seconds, fully depress the accelerator pedal and keep it for approx. 20 seconds until the Check Engine Light (CEL) stops blinking and turned ON.
9. Fully release the accelerator pedal within 3 seconds after the CEL is ON.
10. Start engine and let it idle.
11. Wait 20 seconds.
12. Rev up the engine two or three times and make sure the idle speed and ignition timing are within the specifications.

All these settings can be adjusted in the FCON. It also helps to wire up the FCON to the accelerator pedal, instead of the TPS signal. However, you will loose cruise control function if you go this way.
Sounds like the a throttle control issues inside the FCON program. The FCON isn't seeing 0% throttle and it "thinks" you are still slightying pressing the gas pedal. So the RPM's will hang until the TPS drops to 2% or less.

Thanks guys for your help, this will give me a starting place to start figuring it out from.
Interesting my tps registers at 3 percent on the navigator at idle and my foot off of the pedal. I have a base model so I have no cruise control, thanks I'll look into this with my tuner and I may go ahead and do the manaul resets also I don't think it would hurt to do so?

Thanks for the input, it all makes more sense now. I'm running it to my new tuner tonight and spoke with him last night. He said it was a simple process to adjust the tps with the Fcon. So were going to do that, in addition to some street tuning to work out some drivability issues.
Thanks again for the help, in the old days I'd have just grabbed a screw driver and adjusted the idle LOL. I'll let you all know the outcome later.

Well you know your business Sharif, tonight my tuner reset the thp and the idle problem is fixed, we did a little street tuning and that made a huge difference also. He was able to even up the left and right back on af's and she runs like a dream. Thanks for the help, going back in a week to set up a meth map and then I'm done for a while.
