vortech oil mist
I've had my vortech for about almost 5 years now. Since day one, i've noticed that I get lots of dirt and oil buildup on the parts around the BOV. It doesn't drip oil, but there is always dirt/oil buildup on everything in the line of fire of the BOV.
Does this happen to everyone, or did I get a blower with bad seals?

passenger side would be only source for oil blow by.
i'd pull your IC off and make sure theres not oil pooled. your blower seals may need to be refreshed after so many years, plus that oil coats the inside of the IC, making it way less efficient, so good idea to run some gas thru it to flush it was well.

^explain why the drivers side is not the source. Even the FSM states that under heavy throttle/boost that oil is pushed through the hose that vents to the vortech air filter.

Sorry guys, I forgot one important point.... I don't have the crank case vent hose hooked up to the vortech. The crank case vent is open to air with it's own filter attached. So it can't be blow-by.
I called vortech and they said it could be a faulty fitting on the high pressure line entering the blower, or it could be bad seals in the blower.
I took the filter off and there is definitely oil on the impeller and the stack leading up to the impeller. But there is also oil residue all over the BOV, not just in front of it, but the whole body of the BOV is coated in oil/dirt. Same thing with the sway bar, it's coated in oil/dirt.
Does that happen to anyone else?

Sounds like an external leak from somewhere..Oil on the outside of engine parts points to an external leak from possibly the oil line's into and out of the blower or bad blower seals..I had the blower seals go and oil splattered all over the engine..
The crank case vent hose you refer to is the passenger side breather line? Several folks have let this hose unattached to the vortech filter but have attached an air breather filter to it and let it dangle.
I don't understand what the faulty fitting on the high pressure line entering the blower is referring to??

well if that oil pressure is not regualted correctly, it will blow oil past the seals. the blower doesnt need 50-75 psi of oil.
its prolly the seal though, i had the same problem to start with and it turned into this..
