Default K&N's in place of foam filters

I know I read on here that guys with Greddy kits swapped out the very cheap foam filters in place for some higher quality K&N's or similar filters. I looked in the search section but couldnt find it. Any help? I have the foam filters on my Greddy kit and wouldnt mind swapping them out. Thanks

In for the info as well. I was going to ask the same question when I saw those.

Could you do this with the HKS systems too?

Wow, no one? Come on guys, I know I read about this last summer or fall so some of you have this. I am dying for the exact filter part #. I cant remeber if there was any other brand but K&N but I want something better than the foam.

Did you have to move anything? The one on the driverside looks huge! Thanks for the info, the foam filters breath better but do you notice any power loss or boost pressure loss? Thanks, Robert

Will the filter fit on the Greddy piping? I see why you put the elbow on it but I have my catch can on the other side. So I wouldnt need to. I dont think the size of the filter makes a difference when making power. But I would like something more reliable than the foam. I like the size of these. I thought the tubing was a 3" dia? I think this filter is a 2.5" dia. Thanks

Thanks guys, I like the idea of using the extrems but I cant get on the K&N website!!! I just went and measured and unlike some of these guys I dont think I can use a filter any longer than 4". Any longer on either side and I will hit my radiator support. Thanks for the links and help guys. I really appreciate it.

How did you fit a 7" long filter in there? I measured today and from the back of the foam filter housing to the radiator support I only have about 4"-4.5"! I am trying to find an X-stream filter to fit. I see you kinda clocked your driverside piping. Did you also cut some of the tubing too. Has anyone used an X-stream filter with luck? Thanks, Robert

I just also found an AEM #21-202DK. I personally have never used one of these dry filters. Has anyone else? Thanks

Did not cut piping, but did push them on a little further to get them to fit.

Thanks RandomHer0

It just worked out for me that I ordered a pair of the RX-4960's today! The only thing is I also have a koyo R core radiator. I wonder if that will affect how much space I have? I know there is a lip on the inside of the filter. Was it easy to push past it without hurting the filter? Thanks, Robert

I have a big Koyo (not installed though). I took off the intake piping, from the car, fitted the filters, then put everything in as 1 piece. I couldnt get them in otherwise.
