Default APS Single turbo setup with GTM upgrade...need help

so bought the APS Single turbo setup a lil while back and i think the turbo was bad right from the get go because it would smoke alot...well the smoke got worse and worse over the past 4 months and i finally just went and replaced it with the GTM GT35R turbo upgrade with a Tial 44mm wastgate...well that stopped the smoke...but now im having a problem with boost, after 5,000 RPM's i am going from 10-11PSI to 2PSI??? we tryed adjusting the boost controller (Blitz SBC ID) on the dyno and still nothing?

i checked for boost leaks but found nothing...and the only other thing i can think of would be the wastgate??? i have a 9PSI spring in it...would it be opening on its own at high RPMs?

i would think that that GT35 would be SKREAMING in the higher end right?

P.S. i put 394 torque and 328 wheel on a dynojet...im thinking my HP should be WAY higher if the boost would stay flat throughout the gear

im at work right now but when im off ill post up my dyno sheet...

do you guys have any ideas at what my problem could be?

Most likely the inlet hose (# 7 on the aps list ) is collapsing under boost , basically the turbo is sucking the hose and shutting the air flow .

Call me if you need any further assistance

i dont think he is using any actuature. he got the external wastegate.

+1 for what SAM@GTM said, it must be the intake tube that get collapses when high boost.

one more thing, why are u on 9 PSI spring? go for the 9 to 15 psi spring and control it with the boost controller to be all the time on the range fo 9 to 10 psi.

good luck

rubber.

there is two rubbers,, one for the turbo inlet and the other for the intake..

one is longer than the other. u have to make sure that the longer one is for the intake and shorter for the trubo inlet.

( correct me if am wrong SAM )

well i went ahead and did some testing today and it was infact the intake tube (the black hose that looks like an acordian) that was causing the problem...i just removed it and took the car for a ride running open turbo..

IT RUNS AMAZING NOW!~! it holds 11psi flat the whole way to redline! i cant wait to get it back on the dyno and see what numbers im running now

thanks alot Sam for the info!!!

Hey guys, I'm getting ready to install a stock APS ST kit, has anyone had or heard of problems with this intake pipe collapsing using the "stock" turbo (non- GTM upgrade)?
If so, I might as well fab up a hard pipe during installation instead of messing around with the rubber/plastic one.

Thanks!

hey op, talked to you awhile back.

but jsut got the car running with aps single (non gtm upgrade) and i made 412hp and 442 tq(the torque was from a different run/pull that only made 396hp) at 10 psi, i got a dyno sheet i can upload tonight cause i know how most people say its a fail without proof,

but have you made any higher hp? sence you got the gtm upgrade?
