Been running ngk 2 step colder standard copper plugs and had the car tuned with those ( by shariff ). My question is I would like to go with the 1 step colder irdium ngk's that forged sells so, can I do this without affecting the tune at all ?

 

thats a good question.. i was thinking about getting some lugs last weekend.. almost got the 1 step colder

I switch from NGKs Iridiums LFR7... to LFR6... and it threw my A/F off. Now I'm waiting for step 2s again. I'd stick with what the car was tuned with. From experience with my car, any slight modification, changes my A/Fs and boost significantly. Another example was when I switched exhausts; I was at 9 psi before then it suddenly jumped to 11ish with new exhaust. I had to turn down the boost.

why 2 steps colder to start??

I am running 1 step colder copper plugs....runs great....and thats up to 30psi of boost.

Why you guys running copper plugs instead of the Iridium ones?

 

copper has a better spark... Iridium last longer

 

I have not been able to find the ones I have now based on the part number so yea think they are discontinued.

Thats just was suggested to me when I first had my setup put together. But I realized its a bit over kill.

Even if you run iridiums, after lots of hard stuff (especially on leaded gas) you need to replace them. I'd rather spend $18 on a set of plugs than $25 per plug if they are basically a consumable any way.

That being said, I'm not running a pos plug regardless. I just seem to have good/consistant luck with the coppers.

Nice finds . Just recieved an email back from forged saying that I should have no problems switching to one step colder so im gonna give their iridium ones a shot. I'll update after install if any issues.
