Thanks man, I know there are gonna be a lot of negative people who want to voice their opinion but in the end Im making this more to inform those of us on the forum that are new to the who'll DIY and are interested in going F/I
Let me be the first to say this as I have ALREADY been down this road.
DO CAMS NOW!!!!!!!!! I have already exceeded 700rwhp on stock head/cams....you want cams.....Do you really want to tear down half the motor again to do cams later!!!!..
If you can afford it now, do it now. I was one of the first real big power stock cam cars, you want the rev's and breathing that aftermarket cams give you. You're gonna need a lot of boost to get to that power with stock breathing.
But GL with the build..keep us updated.

negative? you pretty much pissed on the majority of the people in this section of the forum without any proof and not expect people to take offense? Had you completed this build and two years later after driving it like you stole it and all the maintence and small/large fixes showed your budjet was still attainable for the average man.. then yes you have the right to create this thread.
I can tell everyone that I know first hand that JT will deliver a fast car making redonkulous power when this is all said and done. This car was set up perfectly in its stock block configuration and JT drives it like he stole it.
This is not a dreamer thread (haters please chill
), he has a solid plan and wants to see where his max out will be with the components he has chosen. Tom has a point about the cams, but JT has access to people that can help do the cams as a weekend project if needed.
Sorry I couldn't make it over to get the motor out the rest of the way, I had work FAIL (employees suck).
I posted this in my thread a while back, but here is JT having some fun with a couple of my friends with corvettes:

I wish you luck and really hope to see you prove your point. The only thing I will say is that it sounds like you have knowledge and resources that some people that are going FI for the first time would not have and that is the key to your budget. Not having to pay labor. I will be in a similar situation when I go built block and push my STS kit as my car is sponsored and I will be helping with the install while continuing to learn, but not paying labor. I'm not hating by any means. I love the DIY builds. I just would not advise someone new to DIY to jump into a project like this thinking they are going to get FI cheap and they end up really messing something up. Just my 2 cents. GL with the build and in the end I hope the title will be justified. Keep us posted.

damn.....a 2000 vette should be up close to 400hp then that vortech would probably add 75-100 hp (depending boost). One would think that the vette would have the power to pull on him.
that z is quick.
that z is quick.
lol @ how slow that supercharged C5 was....either that driver is HORRIBLE or something is wrong with that car. Not to mention it didn't look like an even start either race.
I'm in a car club with a bunch of vettes, everything from bolt-on C5s to a Twin Turbo C5Z and a Supercharged C6 and I know what they are capable of.
So what did JTGLI run @ the drag strip?? If his car was as fast as you claim with the stock block he should have been WELL into the 11s...

I am predicting right now that his "planned" setup will not crack 700rwhp. Mark my word. I can't crack 550whp with a very similar setup (slightly smaller turbos) with stock cams. With a cam upgrade he might have a shot.
You get a nice feeling of accomplishment with the DIY.
Good luck with your build and i do hope you make your goal.

Thanks Sylvan, Im really excited about the build. To who asked, the car will be tuned on a DynoJet and yes I will hit that goal. I never ran the Z at the track and Im not even going to bench race and claim what it could have ran. Track times are not a concern of mine right now. First I want to get the build done and then worry about talking about track times.
