My Greddy TT Build, the build to prove you can make high #s without going broke...
I took a few months off from dealing with the car, but recently committed to my first show in February and turned the money tap back on. Its amazing how many things I NEED all of a sudden
I hear you Rich & Chris, I have made some nice upgrades that are focused on cooling and keeping under hood temps down. A few things I should have done the first time till I got in a big rush this time I am more detail orientated.

Things are moving along on schedule for Jon, the new mods inside and out are outstanding. I thank Jon for letting me get to practice some DIY skills and a quick shout-out to Blinkerfuild, Tilly and Frank Hill for being there with both hands-on and phone support with our questions. Nothing better than friends with experience

Just one small request... a bigger space heater. I'm online looking at them right now cause I'm way too lazy to freeze while working in the garage.
well he's going to Zdayz as per another thread, so big numbers will be there in full force win
Most likely I will keep what I have for this season. My tuner found that now there is good vacuum/boost that the large wheels I stuffed into the smaller housings need more air than the stock APS intakes will allow. I will need a custom setup fabbed up to go bigger or all I will do is blow hot air or suck the intakes shut. We will get together at some point and do a few runs with the intakes pulled off to see where the numbers go and get an idea on cost vs benefit. He also is not a huge fan of meth injection (too much chance for variation in meth mix and gas quality) and would much rather me get a C16 tune.
That being said, I can drive the car without having to worry about the tires constantly breaking loose at 80+mph and I have confirmed that the 543whp DD is solid and consistant whenever I turn on the meth switch. I wanted 700+whp to be sure, but I want to actually drive the car more than anything, its been almost 16 months after all.
Sorry about the hijack Jon.

Hey all, yes I am still alive and yes I am still on course for my build. As of now I have NOT gone over budget yet. I am right and the tipping point though ; ) but the only things left to purchase are vacum line, fittings, and a bunch of mics b.s. Sry I havent updated this in so long. Along with working on my build I have been studying for the Series 7 exam the past 2 months. I just took that last friday and passed so that has been a huge weight off of my shoulders. Now I can concentrate on the Z and get it done. I have a lot of pictures to upload and a lot to talk about. Tomorrow I will be back in the garage working on the Z and hopefully by tomororw night or sunday at somepoint the motor will be in and the car will be on its way to being done in the next week. So bear with me for now and look for a big update tomorrow or sunday. : )
i'm confused on some things here.
The idea is a 9k budget to prove you can do it for less but i see way over 9k in parts. How can you call it a 9k budget without including the cost of the greddy TT kit? Yes you already had it, but that doesn't mean you didn't spend the money on it.
If you mean 9k on the engine build then ya, but the whole schabang i do'nt see it. greddy=6k, IPP basic shortblock=3500.

Update!!!!!!!!
Ok so yes I havent been on here much updating this thread, but I figured now is a good time to do it since I have something to show for it now. Over the past 2 months I have been busy slowly putting everything back together. Mainly like I mentioned before I had been studying for my Series 7 exam so I had only about one day a week to dedicate to the car. Now that its passed and out of the way I can focus a little bit more on the build and get this baby finished.
So on with some pics and some explinations:
This first pic is of the Bosch 044 inline pump that I am going to be using along with the intank Walbro. I chose this route because I am personally not a fan of twin intank pumps, and well simply I wanted to be different as well as not spend the $ on the twin pump setups (which I already think are outrageous) I mounted the pump in the location of the OEM exhaust, since this area is tucked nice and away from and debris that could damage it as well and making it easy to get to incase of a failure.

Ok next is just a quick shot of the motor as it sits right now. Basically it is ready to go in the car. I should have the drivers side turbo mounted tomorrow and if I get lucky and get a second hand to help me tomorrow, this thing could be in that bay by tomorrow night...we'll see though.

Ok this pic here is the custom gauge setup that Im running. If you notice the volt meter is gone and in its place is a Sw boost gauge ; ) One of my more favortie mods so far.

And the last three pics for now are just of the engine bay and showing some of the heat wrapping that me and Cass have done to a few of the lines. I didnt really do the wrap for heat reasons as much as I just think it looks bada$$. If it does help though, then hey...bonus!

Well thats it for now. By next week the car should be on the ground and ready to be sent out to have the exhaust fabbed up (custom single 4".....)
