Haltech Output Wire
#61
I am also curious as to how you got this to work without causing issues on every gear shift? Are you using the generic output to make the 2 step conditional like I am trying to do?

When the generic output is active, it reads continuity to ground but it shows ~75 ohms. When the generic output is NOT active, it is exactly the same. So as far as I can tell the generic output does nothing. When I turn the key off and the Haltech shuts down a few seconds later, the resistance to ground through the output wire drops to ~0.3 ohms.
IMHO just buy the CAN module and use that. Save your time and sending the unit for repair takes a long time from experiences of other Z owners. Last thing you want is for it to come back and say "all ok" but have the same issue.

^ I use it as no-lift-shift as well, so no problem between gears. I could see how you would need conditional control if it was set low and/or shifting very slowly - but for performance use, no. I have upgraded my personal car to 1.10 as well, but have not been to the track since then to test.

What is different about the CAN system in the G35??? I remember the original firmware did not see the G35 wheel sensors either. Haltech had to release a new firmware. But its always working on the 350z.
Hal do you know what was originally adjusted in the updated G35 firmware to get the wheel speed sensors to read?

I tried 1.10.1 firmware yesterday. Not only does the output still not work properly, but with 1.10.1 my CAN wheel speed sensors stopped working altogether. So I am back on 1.06.2 which is what Hal sent me months ago and is the only firmware I have ever tried which actually had working wheel speed sensors.

You are not the only one. There are at least another few threads that report this and mine also does the same. I just gave up.

Two problems with the CAN module:
- Its over $400
- It requires the use of firmware 1.10 or higher, which will disable my wheel speed sensors so I would be worse off than I am now.
And it just pisses me off - even if firmware 1.10 worked I wouldn't shell out another $400 to make the ecu do something that it is supposed to do already.

I guess in the mean time what I will do is exactly what Hal is doing, and wire it also to a toggle switch so I can deactivate it completely for "normal" driving. Either way, the G is away for winter so I have a few months to think about it.

If indeed the wheel sensors are not working for all G owners with 1.10 then I would assume Hal and Haltech will get this sorted out pretty quick with a point release.
The question here is if this is true after such a long time for release you would have hoped the QA would have picked this up.
