Default And so it begins...Finaly!

Alright so those of you who know me, know i purchased a turbo kit way back in September. After a long wait on deliver it came, and right as i started to get it my truck gave out and I was with out a daily driver/ vehicle i could use to drive to work/ school.

So realizing that it would cost to much to fix me and my buddy decided to sell it/junk it. On dec16th I bought a brand new truck (2010 tacoma 4x4) and just as we were about to start work on the car some one turned into me as I was entering an intersection (On boxing day, less than 600k on the truck). Police deemed it his fault but this is the after math... first two are my truck the third is his car.

Well i just got the rental and i started the work on car, its gonna take a while as i work 4 days a week and have school 4 days a week as well.

But my build so far for engine:
SFR Kit
60 - 1 t3/t4 turbos
Cosworth intake plenum
HKS exhaust

and here is my baby, she is very dirty as I live in calgary and i had to drive her in the slush the past few days. I will update as much as I can as soon as I start installing stuff.

Damn brand new truck totalled that sucks. Why did you buy a new truck instead of a cheap beater. The way cars are depreciating really doesnt make sense buying a brand new car

Got a really sweet deal on the truck, and i will buy a new camera.

However Ive hit my first snag with the vehicle. As i was taking of the intake and preparing to take off the plenum i discovered my strut bar wont budge. Now I am not a small person and I cant get the screws to move...I had a 220ft lb impact gun on it they didnt move. Any suggestions? The only one i can think of is move to a much stronger impact gun... good or bad?

Ps Nissan was the last one to have the vehicle (needed a new engine) and i figure they over torqued everything

Default Strut Bar

Have you shortened the length of the strut bar with the centre adjusters. I may take the pressure off the bolts holding the bar on. I've seen it before.

There's nothing that a 2-3 ft long breaker bar can't open, easily. Unless you have air tools, it's the only way to go. Which EMS?

ya I use the 500 ft-lb snap on one at 140psi and it takes everything off.

have fun with that install. you'll want to remove the coolant pipes on both sides and the rear of the motor to have enough clearance to get at the headers and wastegates. Make sure you have the wastegates on beforehand. have fun running the charge pipes between the frame rail and the steering column.

Just be careful on all of that so you dont strip anything. When I went to put my turbo kit on Nissan had just replaced my motor 3,000 miles prior and everything was way over torqued. Good luck

Boxing day? Kilometers??? I CAN'T CONVERT THOSE TO STANDARD MEASUREMENTS!

I had a Canada-spec Ford Aerostar as my true beater 2 years ago. Gotta love it when people freak out when you are 'doing 120' according to the spedo

For some reason I found that very funny.

Made me laugh as well.

I hope the rest of the install goes better than the strut bar removal, If you drive your car in the winter you might have lots of stubborn nuts/bolts.

Yea unfortunately i had to drive it in the two really bad storms that hit Calgary... so there are a few stubborn ones on the underside. But today I picked up a larger breaker bar and bolts came off easily. I also made my way to the plenum and got that out of the way... Hopefully after I go out for dinner tonight i can make my way back to switch out injectors. Btw there is significantly less coolant in the vq then there was in my 1990 4runner. I thought that to be a bit odd.

Regardless- Pictures:
Please note... better camera
