Update:

Well its 100% a firmware issue with my car. I went back to firmware 1.0 and no misfire. But this still did not fix my AUX out grounding when the key is in the 'ACC' position, argh!

Seems to be not uncommon among the 2003 owners to have this issue! WTF.

Would getting my stock ECU reflashed to a 2004 or later code fix this. I didnt buy a 2000$ EMS to not have the latest features. More than a lil frustrated right now.....

that sucks but at least you fixed it. maybe you should make haltech fix the firmware. I thought the ecu flash for the 04's was different for the 03's therefore wouldn't work. The uprev guys would probably be the ones to ask about this. All else fails you could at least flash the 04 on there and try it then flash back to 03 if it doens't work. It might not make a difference since some of the changes in 04 ecu would be controlled by your haltech anyways.

I'm surprised other 2003 users wouldn't have raised an issue with the updated firmware... I wonder if it's a combo issue that includes the PNP harness, because I think that too has changed somewhat over the years. Did you post onto the Haltech forums? If flashing the firmware back to v1.0 fixes it, I wouldn't think it would be that hard for the engineers to track it down.

EDIT: Did you try v1.04 and v1.06? Which one(s) had misfire issues?

I'm going to try the 1.04 and see what happens. Only tried 1.06 before and taht doesnt work

1.00 is sooo crippled compared to 1.06. There doesnt seem to be many 2003 haltech users though...... but ya, someone else shoulda had the problem you'd guess.

I left a message for Hal on Friday so hopefully I will hear back tomorrow.

well no dice on the 1.04 either. Misses badly. Switched back to 1.0 and its just fine.

Seems like something was changed in the firmware that was never reincorporated....

this guy had problems also, but never came back with resolution

I wonder if it has to do with the copy through function. I'm not sure if that was there in the initial release. I think we tried disabling copy through timing in the timing map but never tried turning the entire function off (in MAIN SETUP, INPUTS/OUTPUTS, COPY THROUGH SETTINGS).

hmm, what functions do you lose by staying at the 1.0v verses upgrading to the 1.4v? i know it's great to always have the newest firmware but if it doesn't hurt to run the 1.0v for a little while until they get it fixed then that's a plus.

Version 1.00 does support copy through but u need to use the older software to modify the values. If you use the current software and click "C" it does nothing if your ecu is running v1.00. You cannot turn it off entirely through the setup on the older software. Need to do it cell by cell or grouped cells.

Some key differences are: Access to decel cut, Long term fuel trims, Knock control and better logging functionality. Other than that i'm not sure

ya i turned off copy thru bc I was using the MAF simulator which doesnt allow copy thru...

no dice with that either.

Missing those features makes my old UTEC a better value. argh.... And unless its a simple fix, I doubt there will be any Haltech support and then I'll be hosed .

Hopefully other 2003 G/Z Haltech users can chime in and say if their stuff works properly with the latest revisions.

str8dum1- what was the solution to the misfire problem? did it turn up being a firmware issue or something else?

Check the haltech harness(s) very carefully, might have a bent or recessed pin from all the installing/removing.
