In fact, it'd be smart for ATI to feature a special sale right about now before the Vortech release date.
It would be wiser for ATI to look into why some of their 350Z SC cars have burnt a piston. The question begs to be answered, does the A/F mixture on their set up run too lean at times?

I could care less about a $500 discount on a product that makes me wonder if I am going to have $8000 of damage everytime I drive it. I care more about them making sure their product works reliably.

The main reason I am excited about Vortec is not 10% more or less hp but the hope that maybe their product will prove to be more reliable.

Does anyone know if the Votec SC'ers are as loud a whine on their other cars as the ATI's have been?

The Vortech is not as loud as the ATI. The V-1 is the loud ones and they still are slightly quieter than ATI. I'm sure Vortech will release the V-2 for this kit, which is their "super quiet" version. You can still hear it at idle, but it is not that loud at all.

Force (Steve), here are some questions I would like to know ahead of time before i talk to you on the phone:

1. Estimated installation time in hours.
2. Estimated cost to install?
3. Place to install near Oceanside Ca - 35 miles north of San Diego
4. What is the fuel management system on this kit.
5. Estimated hp/torque
6. Warranty of SC and does it include a motor warranty.
7. Price of kit.

This is the info I have for you guys.

It will be a V-2 SC-Trim, which is set at 8psi. The HP brings it up to 412HP and 355TQ.

There will be a Piggy-back ignition timing control computer. It uses a larger fuel pump and a FMU.

The intall hour is 8-12 hours, and it is NOT smog legal at this time.

There is a s/c warranty of 3-years, but it will not be fro the motor.

Listed price is 5,495.95, but you can count on the price from us to be A LOT lower.

I'd really love to install this myself. How hard is the installation? I've done intakes, exhaust, springs/shocks/struts, brakes, etc. But never a Turbo or S/C.

Would you reccomend I not do the install myself? I've heard the install is straight forward, but the tuning after install is crucial.

Is the vortech going to be ready to go out of the box? Thoughts?

I don't think it's mechanically hard if you have a wide selection of tools, and a lift is always nice. I bet the hard part is the electronics and tuning.

the numbers sound good. Is that crank HP/Torque or Wheel HP/Torque?

Vortech said, "estimated based on % increase @ wheels"

It should be ready out the box.

So Vortech is saying that it is at the crank. Sounds like they are measuring the car at the wheels then taking the percent increse towards the stock crank numbers.

that is the only thing i dont like about those kits. they seem to be the only one i can recall off the top of my head that requires you to tap the oil pan.

I just spoke with Tony at SuperchargersOnline.com He was very helpful in trying to answer all my questions.

As you know, this product is just being shown at SEMA right now so no vendor has it in hand for another month.

The price, performance, and history of Vortec seem to be appealing. I am not a hugh risk taker thus I will wait a couple of months minimum to see how reliable this new product does on the VQ.

Reliability and serice are key issues for me. I will be interested to see how Vortec responds to these issues in the coming months.

If any of you have had experince with Vortec products in the past, please post your experiences so I can get a better picture of this company and its service.

I have had some experience with Vortech before. It was very reliable, had it for 30k miles on my car. I had to change a few belts, but not a big deal. The V-2 was quieter then the ATI C-2. I liked it alot, and can't wait to see this one on the market.

1. Being it is the same type of SC as an ATI, does that mean that the boost will increase like the ATI vs. a root blower like the Stillen that has the boost constant at any rpm level?

2. ravaz: How many belts did you have to fix? What was the cause of those repairs? What type of car/motor did you have it on?

Hmmm more choices on FI these days. Good news for all. Now we can add more contenders to the list of possible VQ boost junkies. And start that old boost debate all over again.

Vortech says 415 Crank HP.
So thats about 330 RWHP? give or take.

That sounds like some numbers Stillen is putting down with only low boost. (maybe slightly less) Assuming 20% drivetrain loss. Take that same math to what most have been putting down with the ATI kits, and you have 432 crank HP, with 1psi less boost? Why is that? Punching a hole in my oil pan? What good is a 3 year warranty on a blower, that if it fails it fills the motors oil supply with metal shavings, and gear chunks?

And the only question that hasn't been answered is How is the fuel being added? Or the computer being tuned?

And most importantly, will a G35 kit be out soon?

So here is the questions.
1. What is the "real" RWHP numbers?
2. What is the Fuel system?
3. Is there a G35 option?
4. Is there a intercooler? Pics?
5. What is the upgrade options?
6. Will a motor failure be covered, if the motor injests blower parts?

Had to replace the belts 3 times. Car was a Nissan Maxima, it was a Stillen kit, but used the Vortech v2 blower. I'm sure the belts being screwed were probably my own fault, alignment was probably off or something like that, it happened twice in a few short miles, but then lasted about 20k miles till the next change.
