You dont have to do springs with the BC stage 2

I think you guys are missing the BUDGET for this build lol. Where do I draw the line?

well definitely don't draw the line on springs since it will cost way more time and effort to tear the motor down to add them.

i don't know the difference in cam cost but i definitely would do springs when you have it open. After you take i down that far you aren't ever gonna want to do it again, TRUST ME

cut the budget on something you can replace at a later date with ease

The stage 2's make nearly identical power to my car on stock valvetrain, same turbo kit, same tuner, same dyno. Psi for psi the graphs are nearly identical, the only reason mine may have made slightly more power is because my kit has less miles and the turbos are less tired, it was that close.

Stick with your stage 2's and no girdle is neccessary.

I guess from someone that has done it and checked the numbers. I'd stick with his advice.

Alberto, so you think the stock valve springs will hold up just fine being revved out?

Ive posted this before, and I dont know If I recommend it but I'll share this info...

The almost twin of my car which is PFS's shop car runs the stage 2 BC cams + Greddy kit + completely stock heads. Little less power per psi, but high boost he does more because his big tune is on race gas, mine is on meth + pump.

He has run 8000rpm's with STOCK valvetrain and has not had issues with his motor. He actually runs a very conservative by forum standards simple build, but the numbers are big.

For OCCASIONAL 7500rpm wirls I would do the BC2 + stock everything else. Take it for what its worth.

ic, so i guess i'm not putting as much stock into our factory drivetrain as it's worth. I just get nervous about cheap factory springs holding the valves properly and not floating at high rpms. I guess if someone is doing it out there then they work fine. My mentality came from building race bike motors that we spin to sometimes 16k. We have to use heavy conical valvesprings to keep them from floating.

for as little as the springs costs compared too everything else, might as well upgrade from stock (at least im going too).

Alberto.. How was the top end like for both (not so much numbers, but power, feel and quickness)? same?

Again dont take it as me telling you to go do it Im just throwing that out there that it has been done thus far with reliability.

I wouldnt skimp on valvetrain for the cost. BC reccommends their valvetrain with their stage 3 cams I run JWt VT and no issues thus far on that front.

No joke the graphs were very similar from start to finish. Subtle differences between our cars:

I run TD 3" exhaust he runs 4" single, I run 3" DP's he doesnt and he still made very comparable numbers.

His car idles better mine has a lope to it. I dont think without big turbos, a good intake manifold and headwork that anyone will come close to realizing the true potential of the BC3 cams, I am only beginning to scratch the surface.

I agree,
That being said, we're trying the BC stage 3's with mine too (on stock intake as well).

I run a little diff turbo than everyone else though, so we'll see how it goes.

As someone whos been down this road using stage 3 BC Cams you don't just swap the springs out. They have to be checked for proper height and spring seat pressure. Also in my case it required changing the Cam followers and chose supertech lifters & shims which added another $500.00 to the price tag along with the head work and new valves. Hal@ Injected performance could not guarantee the OEM Valve sterms would not break with the BC springs.

I'm going to be doing the TT installation and motor swap for CUX350Z. I urged him to upgrade the camshafts now otherwise it a major PITA later.

Anyone know what cams Phunk is going to run on his new build? I know he's using that kick *** new manifold of his, which is screaming for the proper set of cams.

^just got back from Kansas dodging tornados for 3 weeks. Had a few parts waiting for me when I got home. May make some progress this weekend since its memorial day weekend but I have a bunch of things to tidy up around the house. Ive got a freaking parts collection in my living room that probably rivals what some of the vendors here actually stock. Will try to get pictures as i go.
