Hey guys, just picked up a turbo heat blanket and some titanium heat wrap. Im concerned about high heat intake temp since the turbo is so close to the intake pipe. Im hoping to get better power with the cooler temps. Has anyone done this?
Sorry for the thread jack..

no prob. I was thinking of doin the same wit my set up but I had it installed soon as I got it. Honestly I haven't seen my temp gauge go up but I'm sure wit da blanket would be lower. Let me know how it goes.

Quick question, didnt wanna start a thread so im hoping maybe someone can chime in...
My car sat without being turned on for lil more than a week n upon start-up i thought i heard some "clank" kinda noise which went away after a bit.... Also i park my car wit the e-brake so it made lotta noise to when i disengaged it. Went out n hit full boost as always n everythin was perfect... had some spirited driving n everythin was fine never had any problems... Also been noticing upon cold start-up i'll let the engine warm up n go and the first boost run i do i'll be able to see very light smoke come out the exhaust but then after that it's all good... only smokes a lil on first boost run of a cold start-up..
So guess my question is should I make it more of a habit to not let my ride sit for a few days without at least turning it on n warming it up? Also i got plans to install catch can real soon so im sure that will get rid of the lil smoke i get on the first boost run on a cold start-up.

a little oil is going to get past the seals when it sitting. That is one of the reasons and the other is since you don't have a catch can you're getting oil in your intake. Normally it's all over the walls of the plenum when you run it but when it sits it pools in the bottom of the plenum. When you fire it up it will suck that in and it's enough to make it smoke.
When you install a catch can you'll need to take your plenum off and clean it really good in order to start fresh and have no oil in your intake. It will also get backed up and gum up your throttle body so the oil can make your car idle crappy. Mine was nasty black from oil before i had a catch can. Caused some bad idle problems.
Not sure about the "clank". Once it just 1 clank or did it tap for a while? a clank i wouldn't worry about, but if it's making some noises on startup i'm not sure. Sometimes i lifter will stick and that can tap for a while until it builds hydraulic pressure back up.

My car sits for a month at a time, the brake rotors will get funky but that happens on any car after a few days.
As far as the clank, who knows. could be anything from nothing related to the motor to the motor, you did what I'd do, if I questioned my motor I'd do a full throttle run, if it still runs then yay.

Thanks for da feedback guys. I'm pretty sure it was jus engine noise now, car started up fine today wit no noise n no problems at all doin some runs. Probably what binder said about da hydraulic pressure. Maybe when it sat for awhile without being turned on caused for da noise.
Lol jeffie, exactly what I do. Always do a full throttle run if I question anything but it pulls hard n thas all dat matters

not if it's a lifter but i'd have to hear the noise to know.
plus, a lifter losing hydraulic pressure will stop after it builds pressure again. It won't continue to make the noise for days or anything like that.

btw my crashbar was removed... i figured it was pretty useless and any accident ima be in (god willing i wont be in one) i doubt that crash bar would serve any purpose on a boosted ride.
