We typically use Cometic here. Just sold a set to "binder" on here...hes making roughly 500hp on his vortech set up. We stock all the common sizes. PM me if interested.

VQ35HR OEM Head Gasket is cheap and has been tested up to 600whp.

HR head gasket with coolant passage mod! and if you throw on L19's your good to go. Somones running 9's on HR gasket and L19s. But HR head bolts are good too, id say for bout high 500's

Cometic and HKS are two both very good head gaskets. Not sure who is running 9's on HR gaskets and L19s. HR gaskets can turn into costing quite a bite more than the gaskets above if they fail (rebuilding a motor, decking a block that uses a timing chain, etc). IMHO the HR gaskets haven't been tested enough to be a good alternative quite yet.

They havent been tested enough, I agree, but I cant think of any known failures except maybe just one, just giving different options. https://my350z.com/forum/8042349-post1.html " L19 Head Studs" "HR OEM Head Gaskets"

Part #: C4345-030 (Left Side), C4361-030 (Right Side)
Bore Size: 96mm
Thickness: 0.8mm (Standard)

I think I saw more Cometic failures than the HR.

Some people have had issues with Cometic head gaskets. HKS headgaskets seem to have the best track record, but they are pricey. The HR headgaskets have not been out as long, and thus don't have the proven track record like the HKS headgaskets, but so far they seem to be holding up well.

Bottom line, is money as issue for you? If no, then get HKS. if your doing a budget build like I did, get HR gasket.

If you want the best option for your car, then the choice is clear, get HKS headgaskets. They are somewhere around $300.

If price is an issue, but you still want something good, get the HR headgaskets. They are somewhere around $70.

Here is a very informative thread. OP, read through this:

https://my350z.com/forum/forced-indu...eadgasket.html

That thread includes links to one or two other threads where different people were having various issues with Cometic headgaskets.

EDIT: One more note: Here is a link that shows the HR headgasket in comparison to the first and second generation headgaskets. http://www.jimwolftechnology.com/wol...HEAD_BOLTS.pdf

If you run the HR headgaskets, there is a small cooling passage modification that needs to be made, as shown in the document.

FYI, I am running the HR headgaskets with ARP L19 headstuds on my new motor. I know of a few guys running this combination with north of 15 psi of boost. So far, I have not seen anyone post any issues with it. I went with the HR headgasket because of the improved coolent flow pattern. If the coolent flow pattern is not a concern for you, then stick with the HKS headgasket, which is the most proven for the VQ35DE motor.
