Who's making big power with Single Turbos?
Injected Performance has big power single turbo setups with their drag car and Hal's street car. So does Intense with their widebody G. Thus far, the custom setup used by Injected and a PowerLab kit with a 76S turbo have been the only single turbo systems that have produced big numbers on the VQ.
If you're talking about customer cars instead of shop cars... There aren't really any big power single turbo Z's or G's out there YET. It seems that 99% of the guys with single turbo kits are running them on stock blocks. However, both Jorge (IIQuickSilverII) and I have built PowerLab projects still ongoing at Intense. Hopefully the wait won't be too much longer.

I don't know that might be the case, I haven't kept track, but they did figure out that making 500-600 was a hell of a lot easier with twins than with a Single and still had potential for more

Why run 1 turbo when you can run 2?????
Only issue with single turbos is physical space for the turbo itself. Thus you are limited in cover size and thus wheel size.
Injected's setup are pretty unique to make room for the bigger snail.
Don't forget, Supra's didn't start regularly making in the 700+rwhp range until about 5 years after the production had stopped on the car. Just takes people time to let their warranty's finish before they go modding.
Also, if you have ever driven a 700+ rwhp supra, then a 700+rwhp Z/G....they are VERY different!!!!!!

That statement is outdated IMO and limited to those with Turbonetics or APS ST kits. The current reality is that there are much more capable single turbo kits available for the VQ35DE now than there were 3 years ago. The PowerLab kit has shown that it can easily make 600+whp and is capable of much more with a larger turbo than the standard GT35R. The ST kit by Boosted Performance also shows potential to make over 500whp without difficulty.
I have a ATI procharger kit, which is a blast, but not gonna make the big power. I got it for an absolute STEAL used on EBAY and has been a blast during my ongoing engine build. My final goal is somewhere around 550RWHP on pump.
The singles look a little limited, but I actually thought the APS kit looked pretty promising. Good quality components and a great price. I do see that the turbo is limited to 650 crank HP or around 540 wheel horse at 16PSI. The fuel system is limited to 600 crank HP or 500rwhp.
But the turbo (GT35 I think) supposed to have "full, steady boost pressure" by 2500rpm according to APS. Thats pretty damn good at 16psi. Sounded like a good, cost effective starting point for my goal, with easy upgrading by getting a different GT35 with a bigger A/R and upgrade the fuel system to (walbro 255 and bigger injectors) when my funds recover.
HOWEVER, I read above that you guys are sayin its pretty limited. Can you explain to me why? Still tryin to learn about all these ST and TT kits and your input would be awesome. Thanks for everything so far. I'm lookin forward to more.

Then please use the search function to research the various kits before you post again.
Problems with the APS single turbo kit (smoking, turbo seals, having to replace the CHRA, etc.) are well documented on this forum.
For your stated power goal, I'd recommend the PowerLab kit.

In the race world, Single turbo ultimately puts out the biggest numbers. Depends on the setup though. Theres a reason why all 1000-2000whp cars are single turbo instead of twins
