Default Gas Tank Related Question

Hi guys,

For some of you guys boosting that change the fuel pump and modify the fuel assembly, did you replace the O ring seal when you perform this project?

I just found out there is a gas leak at the top of my gas tank when I have more than 1/2 of the tank full. I did install a walbro fuel pump but didn't replace the original o ring seal rubber.

Do you guys think that the leak would be due to the o ring? I'm heading next week to the dealer to buy a new replacement. Hopefully this might fix my issue. It'd be helpful to hear some input in advance tho..

THX!

yeap it is not the same again if it gets wet from the fuel or if you don't pay close attention when you install the pump to make sure it didn't get pinched or slip

Would a faulty seal cause a gas smell in the cabin? My car smell of petrol some times inside the car and i think this could be the reason.

yes it will, but if you have filled up your tank you will know it as fuel will leak out the bottom of the car

it could also be a leaky connection

Then it might be a leaky connection, when the oring on the pump is bad you will see fuel pouring out the bottom of the car

I would take the cover off the pump area and see if you see fuel

What is the deal with the 6 fuel assembly bolts. They are so tiney and strip easily. Does everyone replace them too?
