Default upgraded my ATI with TurboXS bov

Try the TurboXS compressor bypass valve
if you have an ATI kit.

It doesn't leak, closes faster, and perfectly
replaces the ATI bypass valve. Too late
to drive it but I did verify it's operation under
vacuum before installing it (no
setup changes needed).

It's the H34 model.

enjoy,
rob

ps. picture of the valve is at the bottom of my homepage.

Dwende170,

have you replaced your Z door handles? I love the look.

My question is, how will it operate when not under boost. The 350Z bypass valve is used to bypass the intercooler and SC when not under boost conditions. How is the G35's set up? Also, if it operates the same as the Z, wouldn't the BOV be operating in the opposite way it was designed when not under boost? I don't know how loud the H34 model is, but it seems like it would sound weird as hell when just cruising around with the BOV open.

Good job!.....i'll bet that thing is way more reliable than the crappy little bypass valve that comes with the kit.

Yeah, I hate the bypass valve that comes in the ATI kit.

TurboXS has a good reputation. If anyone wants a TurboXS H-34, I have a slightly used one from my DSM. I'll let it go for $80 picked up.

jesse,

It has a 1.33 inch inlet and outlet port. The valve
is open under vacuum (compressor bypass valve)
and so it operates the same as the ATI valve. I
know the ATI hoses are 1.5 inch but just tighten
the clamps a little and no problem.

For the G35, I just attach the K&N filter that came
with the ATI kit (because it vents to atmosphere).
For the Z, the 90 degree bend maybe a problem since
you have a straight tube back to the intake filter.

As for noise / sound, it's the same at idle (no noise
increase). When closed, it's also the same. There
is a slight difference at 2 specific points. Some will
like it, sound will not.

Bad: at a very narrow throttle band from take off,
~10-15%, there's a high pitched whistle (valve is
partly closing). It's easily avoided (just press 20%
to begin with) unless you drive like a grandma or
are in traffic.

GOOD: When you let off the throttle, you hear a
quick and short burst of "high pitched chirp" as the
valve opens. Doesn't sound as loud as a turbo
blowing off. I know some of you have express the
desire for this. It's a short burst so it's not annoying
all the time. Actually let's you know your valve is
working... think of it as reassurance...

enjoy,
rob

ps. if you buy used, make sure it has the 1.33 inlet
tube which may not be used on other installations...

You might be able to get them molded out of fiber glass and then painted, but I don't know if it would be strong enough. Start a new thread and I bet you'll get some good ideas.

Thumbs up

I was advised via a trustworthy source that the valve ATI uses is Bosche, the same most others use too.

I was a little concerned about this issue too until I researched and made some calls. I feel better now.

Bosche is good and the valve sounds good too. I am sure 200 dollar valves (available from Tony at supoerchargeronline) will work great but I have restored faith in the Bosche valve now after reading about it and talking to an engineer.

Pretty soon I am burning up the track !

The standard ATI will work ok, I just don't like the fact that it's not perfectly sealed. If you blow through it, air will go through. I'm sure it's not a lot of boost lost, but I'm greedy.

it maybe a bosche, but it's NOT the commonly used
bosche type shown on superchargersonline or in the
audi/wrx (forgot which one). that one has a 1 inch
inlet and 1 inch outlet. people also replace that one
because of complaints of tearing in the rubber diaphram.

Ask your engineer to send a link to this "bosche" bov
and I'll compare, but it's definitely not the commonly
used one shown on superchargersonline.

rob

ps. that commonly used bosche bov can be purchased
at carparts.com for $28 (not the $99 at superchargersonline)...
