Dream Works Racing SST Aqua Cooled Super Charger
This product sounds great, and I'm anxious to get one myself, preferably at about 7 psi, or whatever the max safe boost would be without major engine modifications. I'm very interested in reducing weight to make your 400-450 hp at the crank translate into 4-sec 0-60 times.
However, there are some things about Dream Workes that potentially sound hoax-like. 1) Large deposits before product release; 2) No concrete, verified sightings; 3) Sketchy details. They could very well be a legitimate startup using 1) deposits to fund final development, 2) & 3) protecting their patent by hiding the design. But still, raises an eyebrow.
This is a scary world with a lot of con men, so it does pay to be a bit cautious with unreleased products from new companies. Remember the guys that earned $21 million or so from selling nonexistent cars? (Car & Driver October 2003) https://my350z.com/forum/showthread....hreadid=48133. I witnessed a saga in home theater where a high definition recording device was in development for over a year, with the company holding on to deposit/preorder monies for months. That eventually panned out, but not before a huge scandal broke out with accusations of fraud, etc.
I recommend cautious optimism, as we all want this product, but avoiding large cash deposits.

Which company would that be--that's working on the Nismo deal?--if you don't mind me asking. PM me if you wish. I have some definite perspectives around this.
I spoke with Goran, the president on Friday. He is right now in California working on CARB.
Dream Workes was put through the ringer by some juveniles and competitors on other boards so they decided to reduce the negative exposure and finalize everything prior to official release.
I did put my money in, but I did so because Nissan dealers have been ordering dozens--literally--of these kits across the U.S. and some in Canada.
Don't take my word for it. Talk to Greg at Mossy Nissan (ordered 25 kits), Jason at Performance Nissan (ordered a couple of dozen kits). If you're looking for an 'insider' perspective, they can certainly provide their thoughts. They did so for me.
Anyway, I expect the formal announcement in the next week or so. Also, I my stage 2 kit (with a Garrett turbo--Nissan just really doesn't like competitors' products on their cars) will be arriving at the end of January/early February in time for a major auto show.
As I said, I don't work for Dream Workes, I am just an average consumer but have done A LOT of research and made some connections to find out exactly what the deal is prior to putting any money forward. Oh yeah, and my car is now sponsored by Dream Workes.

Whoa--that's news to me.
My apologies.
When I spoke to someone at Performance Nissan just after Christmas, he indicated Performance Nissan had ordered and would be stocking the Dream Workes kits.
Again, my apologies to all 350Z members and to Performance Nissan. It was certainly not my intent to mislead or put forth a false statement. I passed along what I had heard a couple of weeks ago.

No problem! We WERE on board until last week. We just couldn't keep holding our customers up waiting on the R&D to take place. This may have been more our fault at the store here as we should have done more homework on this project before we jumped in with both feet!! So it would be us to say I'm sorry to mislead you.

This appears to be a wait and see situation. I have spoken to Jeff @ Performance, Greg @ Mossy about this issue more than once. In addition, I am speaking to Nick @ DW's at least once a week. DW's and others have said alot about what this product will be. The projected dates are drawing near. Hopefully DW can produce the product and come close to projected release dates but that is a big question mark at this point for many people because seeing is believing. As with the release of many products, expect delays.
The more I work with Jeff and Greg, the more respect I have for them. Z owners in California are lucky to have these guys.

So Jeff@Performance, now that you're installing the GreddyTT, does this mean that you will be offering the sale/installation of the said kit WITH warranty, like you were the D/W kit? Given, of course, that the kit performs to your satisfaction.
So, Jeff@ performance, since you are moving forward with Greddy TT, you may have a more informed answer on this. Is or will Greddy apply for and/or obtain a CARB EO for this kit?

Jeff:
For those that are installing SC and TT kits on their cars and driving them on the street, are they going to have to remove them to pass smog? If so, the $2500+ installation of the Greddy kit is quite an expense! I guess those installing them are assuming they will get a CARB number later?

Dream Workes Delay:
As you know the Dream Workes supercharger is a very sophisticated system, rather than just bolting a supercharger adaptor to the lower intake manifold we have designed a full length runner system with dual intercoolers, off throttle bypass valve, high flow fuel rails, rear quill drive and other features. All this requires specialized machining. The supercharger system replaces the existing manifold at the head manifold face, so that all the features in the standard manifold, like injector mounting positions and fuel rail mountings must be accurately machined in the new parts.
Just some of the complex and accurate features we must include are the angled flange faces that seal to the cylinder heads, the bores in which the injectors seal against boost pressure, the intercooler flange faces and mountings, as well as the integrated supercharger rotor housing.
We believe this level of sophistication is what the 350 Z owners want, but the downside is the production time for the kit is far longer than initially estimated. Complex and accurate parts make up this system and we want to be absolutely sure a high quality product is produced. We have had some delays and realize there is a huge demand for kits, but compromising to get parts out the door would be something we could not consider.
I believe customer satisfaction is first and foremost; to all of our loyal customers, I thank you for your patience, for all that are skeptical, your will be pleasantly surprised.
Sincerely,

Thank you for posting this information to all interested parties. Your absence of providing updates on this forum recently was causing some concern. As you may know, there are 350Z owners delaying their purchase of a kit waiting for yours to be released. It is only fair to those consumers that you keep them updated as much as possible considering the release date on your product is being delayed.
When possible, please post information regarding when this product will be released. I know it is difficult to be exact but considering a best case and worst case senerio, what is the expected release date? Are we now looking at a release date in Feb., March, April., or summer?

Who cares when it comes out as long as it is right, I think that was the point of the letter. It sounds awesome to me.
"Your absence of providing updates on this forum recently was causing some concern."
Of course ; doesn't everything on forums cause a concern if the thread gets long enough no matter what the topic?
