knocking is not good at all, if its always there, and even when car is warm, not good. When I 1st swapped vq35 into my maxima it had a very faint knock, could hear it at idle but also driving, i thought it was normal since most vq's are noisey. Was then driving on the highway, gave it a quick WOT for the first time, perfect tune btw, then kept driving and suddenly, tack tack tack tack tack, got off the highway and BAM, snapped a rod. No other symptoms before this, car drove perfect, except for the very faint knock. Probably the engine had been damaged before i bought it at the junkyard. I would inspect ur engine if I were you.

I've done over 20 WOT runs and it still runs the same. But the knock is kinda worrying. I'm not going to take the engine out to rebuild it without forging it...and that's the problem...lol.

Just check ur pan or filter sooner than later. You'll know if it's time to forge or not.

Oh no... my car doesn't sound NEARLY that loud. Heck, you can just barely hear it.

Honestly, I'm very worried about it. I don't wish to have to build the engine just yet. It being my only car, getting to work will be kinda hard without it and I HATE depending on other people to get to work. I guess it is what it is.

does your car make a sound like a bunch of BBs bouncing around? Does it only happen at light throttle (no boost) situations? But, it doesn't happen at higher loads or while in boost? What engine management system are you using?

You think 500whp in a daily driver is too much? I know someone with a 750whp G35 and it's his daily driver but he's insane imo...I think 500whp would be the limit between fast and somewhat reliable not making a fool of yourself spinning 1st, 2nd and 3rd.

It sounds like someone tapping the block with a hammer very softly in a rythmic fashion. It'll do it in light throttle and very VERY FEW times in idle and NEVER in higher loads nor under boost.

I run Osiris.

I by no means feel that 500whp is too much to handle on the street. It just seems that with all the issues you have been having there is some work to be done prior to that goal being achieved.

Well, I found out what the noise was. Tonight I romped on it to try out my rebuild Vortech and the damper came apart and broke my front timing chain cover. Problem solved....I guess.

I do recommend buying a $1500 honda civic at the least....

once you go boosted you are driving a race car that requires a full team to include a tuner, crew chief and many others (forum) to keep it running.

I would not spend 15K on my only car....spend 14K and buy another daily.

my two cents. 600RWHP can be daily driven as long as you are out of boost.

even built motors can break, be put together improperly, have issues, and downtime.

DO NOT expect to drop in it and forget about it... there is always something.
