Default My BP Single Turbo Kit Review

This is my review of the BP kit. First a little backround/mods on the car:

2006 350z 6mt Enthusiast 34,xxx miles
BP Single Turbo Kit w/journal bearing 6262 turbo
550cc injectors
255 walbro pump
HKS BOV
Wastgate dumped to atmosphere
HPX Mass air meter
1 step colder NGK's
Cusco Catch Can
AEM UEGO AFR meter
AEM Tru Boost EBC/gauge

Other mods already done on car:

Osiris Uprev tune
Skunk 5/8" spacer
Nismo Exhaust
MREV2
Jet hot coated Topspeed Headers
JWT clutch/flywheel

The Kit:

First off, the build quality is great! As many of you have seen, the welds are incredible. The installation is pretty straight forward and if i were to do it again, i could do in less than half the time. I did run into one problem during the install that was my fault, which brings me to my next topic. The customer service!!!

During the install I installed a check valve oil fitting backwards. I didnt realize that the turbo was not getting oil and i ran the car like this for about 20-30 minutes just idleing and cruising around my house checking for anything loose with the install. I never went into boost or anything like that. It wasnt until i took the turbo reservoir down and no oil came out, that i realized the turbo wasnt getting oil. I contacted Sasha and told him what had happened (in the instructions i received there wasnt any clear pics/instructions how to assemble the oil fittings. But it was still my fault for messing it up). He assured me that he would take care of me. By the way, I PMed this guy so many times, i upgraded to the premeir membership so i didnt have to keep erasing my box. LOL. He answered my PM's like they were txt messages, it was crazy. I brought it to get tuned and halfway through the dyno session, my tuner told me he thought something was wrong with the turbo because it was smoking more and more. I stopped and brought the car home. Sasha told me to take the turbo down and send it to Precision. By this time, i had the turbo out in 20 minutes! not kidding. It takes longer for me to jack the car up and get it to the right height on jack stands than to take my turbo down! The turbo was ruined and had to be repaired by Precision. Sasha pmed me and asked if i would pay half!! I couldn't beleive it. Talk about customer service, i mess the install up, damage the turbo and i only have to pay have the cost? Imagine if i had a Greddy kit and called them to let them know i messed up the install and was wondering if they could help me out!? So now i received the turbo back and everything is ready to go.

Tune/Results:

I decided to go with Dent Sport Garage for my Uprev tune. These guys were awesome. They went out of their way to help me and i couldnt have been happier. My tuner, Matt, told me that if i was looking for big numbers, i came to the wrong place. He was telling me stock evo's and sti's normally put down 215whp stock. There was someone in the Tuning section here that went here and had a bolt on Z and dynoed 220whp and after a tune like 24x whp, so it reads fairly low. But as we all know it is just a tool for tuning and there are a bunch of variables. I told my tuner i wanted the tune to be very conservative. I had it tuned at 10 lbs of boost.

The Results: 404 HP and 359 TQ (it made 408 on one run but this was the final run) on a Dyno Dynamics Dyno

It saids a 2004 G35 but he just forgot to change the title. keep in mind this is a really conservative tune. Low 11 AFR's and only 8 degrees timing at peak TQ and 14 degrees timing at peak HP.

Overall i am very happy with the kit. The car pulls so nice in the high rpms, its like a totally different car! If anyone is on the fence about this kit, trust me its worth it. Its great for a DIYer and you learn a lot about your car and the kit after going through the whole install. Heres a couple of pics that i took of the kit.

2 things. Just out of curiosity how much did it cost to rebuild the turbo? Also how does the super trap sound? I have never heard one before. Get a video!!! I love these threads on the BP kit. Everytime I read one I get the strong urge to sell a kidney to fund it lol.

I think the low tq number has a lot to do with how little timing i have. 8 degrees at peak tq and 14 degrees at peak HP seem to be not much from what ive been reading up on. As for the supertrapp, it quiets the open dump alot! Without it, its just stupid loud.

Ya, that's super low timing. Not sure why he went that low on max tq with that low of boost.

my 6765 with open dumps literally makes my left ear ring (if windows are down) for 30minutes after i boost it. I had my super trapp on for a while and it made the noise almost non-exsistant but with all the extra flow of mine i had to remove it because of backpressure. I did some mods to it and will be trying it again though.

403hp 359tq with 12% added to bring it up to what a DJ reads would be 451hp and 403tq. Somewhat off of yours but again, super low timing.

OP, i have some questions, what w/g spring are you running and what were your intake temps on these runs? also, the DD should have a knock sensor so why didn't he run the timing closer to knock threshold?

The curves can also depend on where the run is started - looks like it might've started a bit later... No offense to the OP, but covering 1/2 the price of DIY install errors seems like a quick way to go out of business. Applaud the customer service of course. Maybe marking that check valve better is a good idea!

No big deal, it is a part of doing business. At the end of the day, I have another happy customer.

The check valve has an arrow, it just wasn't noticed and the correction to the manual was made. 10 kits prior to this one were installed properly, so it was a honest mistake:

I have the stock spring in it but i am running an aem EBC. The highest iat i saw was 102 degrees at full boost at like 6500 rpms.
