Finally got some time to work on the engine block. The shop's been super busy and hectic plus expanded with more room now, but here are some work on the block.

Stock crank on the left, billet stroker crank on the right

After sleeve install, the block is then step decked. This helps concentrate the clamping force around the cylinders.

Boring the Darton Sleeves to 100mm.

Notching the bottom of the Darton Sleeve for oil squirter clearance

Oil squirter notched.

Machining 2 of the 4 main stud for 1/2" studs

More to come.....

We will still run water in it. It's going to run on gasoline.

Torque plates are used during the honing process.

interesting. Never knew that. Any time i've sent a block to be bored they just ask if i want it bored with a torque plate and i always say yes. They never specified that it was a bore then hone with torque plate.

you use a torque plate after bore, and during the hone.

looks dope, esp that crank. the oem crank is BEEFY. It weighs more than the block!

edit saw people already addressed @binder
The blades used for boring are different than the honing head.

The idea is to egg the hone job... the bores straighten out when under the torque of the head, and this egging is very small. You could do the torque plate on the block during boring but it would make little difference (until the honing stage). Shops will do the torque plate during the bore if you want, but they charge extra because its "more of a hassle" and not really worth the effort.

ya, after reading that checking the bore with and without the plate there was only about 1 thousandth of a difference then it makes sense to use it with the hone as 1 thousandth could easily be taken out with a hone. I guess since i never plan on doing any machining i just never asked. I just build the engines for the racers. I leave the machining to the professions.

Very nice work Mazworx. I am pretty interested in the Z with the same setup. Been considering modifying a kit to work much like that with the turbo right in the front of the engine...

I look forward to seeing the finished video, and seeing how you manage the heat. (heat being the opening of the season and the first set of races)
