Default 2.87 v 3.33 pullies

I recently got a vortech v3 tuner kit from another member here. It came with 2.87 and 3.33 pulleys, just looking for input on which pulley you guys think I should run on a stock block daily driven build. I'm still getting my injectors and FMU, kind of taking the johnny cash approach to it, but I thought I would ask for input along the way, instead of later once I've made the mistakes.

So should I run the 3.33 or 2.87? and why?

My gut is telling me to run the 3.33, since I'm really only looking for something in the 375-390's whp. 400 is great, but I drive my car I'm not looking for bragging numbers. I don't want to miss an opportunity since I'm starting the build from scratch and have this base of knowledge at my finger tips.

what do you guys think, are the 2.87's too much for a stock block build (69k on the clock non revup)? Is anyone running it? and if you are, what are you running for your fuel system and FMU?

(I've searched, I"m just asking directly, it's labor day lets be social ... I've already had a weird expedience with a Porsche today and need some love: https://my350z.com/forum/the-lounge-...be-******.html)

I already went through sentry 65's thread, and there was a lot of good information there, mad props, but my question really still stands. I like the idea of the power lower in the band, but I'm sure if I wanted to someone would trade me my 2.87 for the 3.12, I'm already running a greddy evo2 exhaust and I'm planning on adding a spacer and some headers when I do the build (I want to appear as stock as possible, to pass CARB) add some high flow cats and I should be where I want. I know how to get there, there is a ton of information and the search button is awesome.

The question is if I'm going to blow my motor up if run the 2.87's, or if I should just stick with 3.33 (and or trade for 3.12 keeping the 3.33 to know I could pass smog) to keep it under 10psi? I need to appear stock so I cant go out trading the entire intake system, lest I make some new friends in law enforcement.

Has anyone had experience with it, need to appear stock if I have to pop the hood and really looking for a drivers car?

The 3.33 on a stock VQ35DE will make 325-330WHP Max, 7-8 lbs of Boost.

Will you Blow up the Motor with the 2.87? Any can Happen, The Tunings is the KEY.

I've been Running the 2.87 for about 30,000 miles, does this answer your question.

Lots...... of other modification.... You need to do some work and search... all of my older threads, info is in there. I will tell you this, Splitsecond, headers, no cats and a bunch more. Tuned by TimRod's *** Dnyo

It;s not been on a Dyno with this setup, 1/4 mile times and MPH can tell you a lot.

if you follow through with installing headers then you'll likely make more power than other people running the 3.33 pulley. that being said, IMO you should go for the 3.125" pulley...still relatively safe power/torque level.

For the longest time I was running the older V2 blower with the 3.12 pully making 370 rwhp and 303 ft/lbs and I loved it. I also had a full cat back Nismo exhaust with DC Sports headers, I think that my peek boost was in the neighborhood of about 8 or 9 psi, I was losing boost pressure because of the headers, but making better power. I would suggest the 3.12 vise the 3.33... I never had the chance to run the 2.87 becaue Murrphy's Law was in effect and I blew my motor

I blew the motor with the set up that is listed above, and i had about 63xxx miles on it. I bought the car from the second owner that had put the blower on it, so all told it had been boosted for about 30xxxish miles. pulled super strong, but one day I went out to drive to work and it was smoking and had like NO power... did a compression test and one side failed epicly...

Started out with the 3.33 then 3.12 then 2.87 with a 34T Cog pulley and UTEC. Always with 440 inj and switched to an AAM STAGE 0 fuel return system and a Walbro (eleminated the FMU/Aux fuel pump) after the 3.12. Dyno tune after the 3.12 with about 10 psi boost..390 hp and 320 Tq. Car has 35 k miles no problems.

Murphys law-- if it were me id start off with the 3.33
Ive had a stock vortech kit for on my 04 since march. I thought about going to a smaller pulley but im just too nervous about murphys law. Currently i have some money set aside for when my motor decides to go and when that happens ill upgrade and retune. My car was dyno'd and tuned very ahortly after the install to verify te afr's were safe and that I was making nice power.
I may be in the minority, but i am very happy with the 3.33 pulley

I am changing the 3:33 pulley as we speak. Mine made 400whp with that pulley with an upgraded impeller.

Changing to a 3:13 as I want to run a bit more power.

My advice to you would be start with the 3:33 and see how much power it makes, if you're happy with the result keep it, if not, keep going. Remember, pushing anymore then 360lb of torque on the stock block will be asking for trouble. Good luck.
