Thanks Charles

The factory oil pump on the VQ is one of my largest concerns with my build. I know it sucks *****, especially beyond 6500RPM ...and that there is a trail of carnage on this platform from oil pump failures at elevated RPM's. If I could afford it, I'd love to convert to a dry sump setup.

the only oil pumps that continuously fail are run at 9k+. what oil pump failures have you heard about at 8300 and under?

dry sump is cool, but you lose AC. plus have to find a home for a 4-6qt sump for the oil. good for a race car, not so much for a street car.

**OP, any idea why your power was bouncing after 6500? fuel pressure? boost?

Yeah, the oil pumps are pretty good up until about 9k. I don't remember seeing any failures.

I can't get over that pic. It looks so sick man.

OP how many miles on your engine since 2005?

Do you do any kind of tracking the car? If so what kind?

How hard are you on the car usually?

Man sleeves since 2005 that's fawking nuts. Makes me want to pull my block and smash it over someones face while they sleep...

Good job!!!!

How was the boost holding up at those boost levels on those turbos? I'm sure the intake helps a ton.

I think I have narrowed it down to the VTC gears trying to get to where I am commanding them to be. I have the intake cams ramping out pretty quick in that area. A set of fixed cam gears would probably eliminate it but kill my low end and midrange. I am going to put some thicker oil in it to see if slightly high oil pressure will help control them better.

just ran over 17,000 miles on the motor yesterday and have had a couple autocross and one trip to drag strip in it and lots and lots and lots and lots of "closed course, professional driver" runs.

I have a 11miles commute to work and usually manage to get to WOT and redline 2-3 times on my way work. On the way home traffic kills anything.

Car was at 12psi for about 4000miles, 18psi for 6000miles, 21psi for about 7000miles and now 26.5 till I run out of c16 and have to fill it back up with 93oct. These are just estimates but should be pretty close.

I had the motor out when I did the intake manifold to check bearings but left the heads on. Everything looked good so I just sealed it back up and put it back in the car.

I try not to leave it in for more then a couple days but mainly because of the foam in my fuel cell. C16 is not nearly as harsh as q16 though.

Highest wheel horse power Revup ever? I didn't think the Revup had it in it. Never seen one so high.

The VTC's do seem to become problematic. More data logging at the track will help me see exactly what is going on. I really dont want to pin them but it may have to happen when I shoot for more on bigger turbos.

They dont have a problem advancing or retarding all the way its just the transition when changes in commanded angle are made. They seem to be slow or over/undershoot and have to rebound back.

You spent a lot of money as it is and it's a very nice car. Why risk it. There is a reason there has never been a Revup to reach 1000whp. Neither SP or GTM tried it and they had lots of money to blow to try it.

I'm going to take the Revup out of my car eventually.

They should put my banner and your car up on g35driver. The one they got looks like someone cut the cars out of a magazine and glued them on a 9th grade project poster.
