Ouchie!
That picture of the hole through the block is very sobering sight.
Need to make a poster out of that one.
So......either it is :
a)lean fuel condition caused by increasing the intake, which messed up the a/f ratio and caused early detonation, or
b)lean fuel condition caused by ecu reading changes to air flow and reacting to lean out the a/f ratio and thereby causing early detonation, or
c)infamous Southern Florida glade possum, panicking as you crossed over him at high rpms, leaping upwards in self defense and taking a bite out the engine block.....notice what appear to be incisor marks along the edge of the rupture point? It is the escaping hot oil by the way that gives them that banded mask across the eyes, not unlike raccoons.
Thanks much for the picture. Hope you keep some humor through the process. And thanks to 12secZ for his constantly feeding updates on information as we seek the solution.
BTW, we had our G35 meet down in SoCal yesterday, and had better than 40 cars, two of which were Z's. Nice sunny day and cool temps. One lad had a custom single turbo set up, but mine was the only supercharger equipped vehicle.
Made it throughout the day without having to pick a crankshaft out of my liver or a sparkplug from my nose, so a good day.

Wow......I thought I had it bad when a projectile entered my engine compartment, ricochet and damaged my radiator.
Sorry about all the damage to your zee, if it is not the F1, it is something else.......Florida must be a hell of a place to drive
Hope things take a turn for the better in the New Year!

He is in South Florida and has some wild cars (pushing 500+ rwhp on at least two of them, both very high boost applications). He would definitely know or be able to point you in the right direction.

The hole in the block is a classic detonation. did the rods shoot out?
