I have been working on installing mine and it should be done within a week or two. I was gonna install it all ASAP to get the dyno results but I figure there are probably 50 people on here that will do that for me. I am working on building some support products for this turbo kit to pick up where Greddy went economical.

What things do you think the went economical on? I have had to add the following to the basic kit:

BOV
Turbo Timer
Boost and EGT gauges
Boost Controller

What eles do you think is missing?

shaun_walsh: The stuff you have added is not the type of stuff I am talking about. I am puting together a couple different upgrades... but as for the basic install i am building a install kit to offer to people interested.

My install kit includes a nice power steering cooler setup since the Greddy one is a joke. Also includes much higher quality oil lines. Greddy oil lines have a bad rep for failing, I personally know of one car that burned down cause of a failed Greddy oil line. 99% of the time its just fine, but whoever is soldiered the hose ends together has an occasional miss, that I will not risk on my car. I am also replacing the air filters with more effect K&N filters which are a better idea for long term use... the foam filters are crap. Also the people who purchase the kit from me have the option to get the kit supplied to them with ceramic coating already applied to the manifolds, turbines, and downpipe adapters. This has a few small benefits added up to make it worthwhile in my opinion.

Other than that... I will be supplying a few things that are needed for proper install that the non tuner shop guy wouldnt have sitting around.

As for the things you decided to add to your kit...

BOV: A must have. Its not proper on a car like this with a mass airflow meter but thats ok. Dont be surprised if you can shoot flames out your exhaust on the shift, but not very likely unless you take out the cats also. But definatly make sure the BOV is adjusted tight enough otherwise it will not shut properly after the shift and you will be losing performance.... BTW IF you elect to keep you cats in the car, they will get burned up in short order from the raw fuel dumped on the shift. So be prepared to take them out later or replace them as they start to make the car smell like crap and restrict performance.

Turbo Timer: I wont talk, cause I hate turbo timers. OK ill talk. A turbo timer is not needed at all unless you plan to be boostin the whole way home and up your driveway and immediatly shut off the car. As long as you drive the car gentle for the last 120 seconds of driving, having a turbo timer keep your car running with no airflow will probably raise the oil temp more than low RPM cruising. For someone in my shoes that is constantly workin on cars and needing to turn them on and off after changing things, they get very annoying. But they are acceptable.

Boost and EGT Gauges: a MUST. Good plan. However, placement of the EGT gauge... on a V motor the decision can be hard. Perhaps you should ask Crawford who claims to have flowbenched the stock intake manifold. Put it on what ever cylinder has the greatest airflow, and ALWAYS put it in the manifold, NOT a downpipe.

Boost Controller: Do not put in a boost controller. Its just more rooms for problems and you cant use it anyway... you know they can only turn boost UP right? you can only turn it up past the lowest the car runs before the boost controller. Unless you want to change out the springs in the Tial wastegates to run like 3psi then turn it up to 5 on the boost controller... but I still dont recommend this to someone that isnt willing to accept what could happen if there is a problem with the boost controller and their engine fails from overboosting.

I couldnt have said it any better!

Most people think the more guages ot the closer the driver seats resemble an F22 Raptor Cockpit the better it is.

I start our install on Tuesday.
Already see what you mean Charles on the power steering cooler. Might have to get with you on that, on what you come up with.

Funny you meantion cats, I was just discussing that yesterday, when we were going over our dyno runs
Going to do our dyno run of coarse after Greddy TT kit install -with stock exhaust.
then with Greddy Evo exhaust
then we will do some more runs with different high-flow cats, and test pipes

Whats up Albert ?

Hey Phunk,

That is a great reply. Thanks, for all the advice. I DO NOT plan to go higher on the boost. The car is already faster than I need, but well... need has nothing to do with it. As I told my wife it's like sex, the only sex that matters is the first time and the next time. I feel that way about HP, always thinking about the next mod. However, I am not going to change the internals on this engine so their is not need ot go higher on the boost.

Let me know when your kit is ready and add me to the list. Where are you located? I may have you do the install as well.

Perhaps you should ask Crawford who claims to have flowbenched the stock intake manifold
I wonder though how that gets affected with forced induction though.....intake manifold design becomes a bit less critical on the type of HP we are talking about with this kit.

If it were me, I'd study the fuel system and moniter EGT from the cylinder thats the furthest away from the fuel pump....it will undoubtedly run the leanest.

Z1: intake manifold design does matter much less in a boost applications, however it can dramaticaly effect spool-up and powerband characteristics a lot more than you might be considering.

Thank you Yancy. Please let me know when you're dropping car off for me so I can schedule you in. BTW, I forgot that there is no BOV provided so let me know and I can weld one in for you. I have many different ones in stock. YOu're lucky you bought it that afternon BTW, the other guy showed up a few hours later wanting it. We backordered one for him.
