But by increasing your boost you put yourself right back in the same situation...
Which is?

High compression?

Yea you're going down. Even with 13 injectors and two fuel pumps.

Thicker head gaskets can actually cause more detonation, not less.

A thicker head gasket will lower the compression ration, but it will negatively affect the geometry of the combustion chamber.

There is a flat surface on the head which mates with a similar flat surface on the block, called the quench area. This is where the gases come in close contact with the head and block. The quench area is designed to cool the gases.

When you move the head away from the block, the gases are not cooled as effectively, since they are not as close to the relatively cool surfaces. Hot gases detonate easier.
