Completely Confused forced induction
Ok so i have a 2006 350z that has 107,000 miles and i want to go forced induction.Now heres the scoop.I lurk the forums 24/7 trying to get as much knowledge i can from here but i got a hook up with a guy locally that is a distributor of performance parts.He is hooking me u with the turbonetics kit with an upgraded ball bearing turbo.Now this is a tuner kit so because i get no injector,no fuel pump,and no reflash.This guy is telling me that i can simply put in this kit with just an upgraded fuel pump fuel pressure regulator and no injectors orreflash.Is this bull**** or is this fine?Ive searched and searched but never found an actually answer to this.He is telling me the car will adjust itself on its own an be fine at 6-8lbs of boost.I came here for help not to get flamed so please help a fellow new guy out.I would just build my block but i want to get use to a forced inducted car before i take a step further.thank you
This all depends on how much power you are trying to get out of the kit. If your going to stay under 400whp, you can use the stock block, stock injectors, just get a fuel pump like he said and have it tuned and you can run it like that reliably. If your trying to exceed 400whp, you need to rebuild the motor completely with stronger internals and bigger injectors, fuel pressure regulator, ecu tuning sytem to run reliable.
Either way it goes, To be safe if your not going to go too high with power, I would upgrade the fuel pump, fuel pressure regulator, the injectors bump a size up and definitely have it tuned unless you want your engine blown. but if your looking for lots of power, you have to do all of the above and build the engine.

Ok for now i want to be at 400whp not exceed it so from what im gathering if i want it reliable (which yeah i do lol) Injectors,fuel pump,fuel pressure regulator and a tune.Now what size injectors would you use in this setup?
Stock injectors will not ve enough. I had rc 440s in my twin set-up and ran out of fuel at 10psi at onky 4800 rpm. Granted there different set-ups, but stock will not be anywhere near enough.

Its just good to know what youre boosting on w a stock block.
8 lbs in a stock block.. ur asking for trouble. You want something that will give you ample fuel and timing to be as safe as possible ( notice i did not say reliable), yet sacraficing power in doing so.. this sounds like you.. and that sounds like an Osiris tune.

Im a firm believer that any boosted VQ stock block is ( at one time now or maybe later) simply a built FI engine core waiting to happen.

turbonetics kits suck as proven on this forum over and over.
Unless you're getting it for 1k and are willing to re-work stuff, I wouldn't bother. With your mileage and that kit's issues, you could easily snap a rod.

You can contact treadstone and send ecu for reflash or do the osiris. Like said-is it your daily? Id be on the safe side and keep it at the 5psi mark for sure. Youll still have fun. Transmission?? Clutch etc?? Better read up on all of the supporting mods for any FI--gauges, wideband, clutch/fly, oil pan spacer, oil cooler, bbk(lol jk) etc...
