ZCG finally has time to install the motor. They started working on it today.
They are going to uninstall the pathfinder mod since there was some uncertainty with it and it may have been creating some hot spots. Better to remove the uncertainty and protect the huge investment.

Interesting theory on the Pathfinder mod creating hot spots...what's the full story from ZCG on that? Really curious to the logic behind this....

The Pathfinder mod is one of the few variables that has been different from their other builds. We're not saying it's to blame, but it's not worth the time and risk of leaving it on. I want to remove all doubt.

why the pathfinder mod makes no sense on a build DE :
if you have an built bottom end, there is no need for the pathfinder bypass. Piston clearance to cylinder bore with forged internals is enough. You should keep one thing in mind : the water you pass by at the end of the engine reduces the amount of water, what flows through the heads. Cylinderhead cooling in a DE is much worse than HRs have. Open bypass (pathfinder mod) limits waterflow and cause high potentially in-head overheating as well as stressing the head gaskets..

Got the car back last night. It has about 130 miles on the motor and so far feels strong. This time I'm breaking it in with everything on (e.g. blower, 900cc injectors, etc). We're keeping it under 4k rpm and no more than 1 or 2 pounds of boost until I hit 900 miles...then I'll take it in for the final tune and post up some numbers. Can't wait to see what it can do.
Been toying with the idea of swapping the UpRev for the Haltech Plug'n'Play. Not only does it have more safety features, Dynosty said they gained 50hp just by swapping the tune to Haltech (seen here). If only it wasn't nearly $3k with all the bells and whistles. Might wait until next year for that.

350 miles and the car is still driving well. No hot-start issues so far...it starts every time. I can only take it up to 4k rpm but it feels very strong. Every once in a while it gets a rough idle, and sometimes bucks a bit at slow parking speeds...but I'm confident it can be fixed when it goes in for more tuning time.
I had some time yesterday to swap in my new Depo 06+ headlights with STi-R lenses. Since I had to take off the bumper I thought I would snap some pics and share. Click on the images to enlarge:

I don't think that's the sun causing the bubbling, it's the lenses...any lenses. The blacked-out Depo headlights are prone to bubbling in that exact spot no matter what lenses you use. Only fix is to repaint them. Depo only used a tiny coat of paint on these things.

I have original Nissan lights that I painted black using High temp paint and ceramic primer. I repainted twice already and it keep bubbling. Also in DIY thread here people confirmed it. Clear lenses works like magnifying glass on the sun. With original lenses you won't have this issue.

Oh well, function over form I guess. At least they perform better at night.
