how much RTV is too much

Ended up supporting the pan drain plug down on concrete floor with long sockets along the flange and used a 3lb hammer, 8mm pin punch and 10mm socket beneath the hole to flatten. A few light taps seemed to do the trick. RTV is drying. Will prime the oil pump and fire it up tomorrow.

hey, i just removed my lower oil pan to tap the upper. i have some rtv already, it's the "ultra grey" which is good to 625 degrees "intermittent". is that good, or do i need to get the red rtv?
