More updates, car started up on its own power, runs a bit rough but its keeping steady idle after it warmed up at 1k rpm due to my uprev tune already. Had the biggest smile on my face. Only bad news is my tank reads empty on the gauge and I have a full tank of fuel. Maybe I damaged the floater. Gonna dig into the tank after breakfast.

All done. Car runs with no issues. Called the tuner to make an appointment for this week. Time for a beer! I'll bolt the hood in later...

Float came off lol. I went and got dishwashing gloves and grabbed it out of the tank. No more issues there.

Update. Car will be tuned tomorrow night. Shop is about 20 miles away soo I should be OK driving without the rear cog belt on. Once I'm there I'll reinstall the belt so the tuner can work his magic. Numbers will be produced via DynaPack. Stay tuned.

It's no problem driving with the cog belt on, just drive it easy, you'll be fine.

Congrats as well for taking on such a big DIY project!

Any heads up or lessons learned that would help others or is it pretty straight forward?

Take your time! Take breaks and don't cut corners. Have some motivational music playing in the background and drink beer lol. If you don't know how to do something properly, research and learn how, even better if you can find instructional videos on YouTube (I did this with the fuel pump). Its pretty straightforward, all the basic tools are needed pretty much, Just be patient cause FI is serious business. Gotta do it right the first time or you could really screw things up even worse ruin your motor.

I'll be sure to make a video after I tune.

Soo jus to update, the dynapack tuner canceled on me last night due to having previous plans that he forgot he had around the time of the tune we scheduled. So instead of waiting on him, I scheduled with another tuner (Rads Motorsports) who is a bit more expensive but maybe this is a good sign. They will using a Dynojet. Next week Wednesday, Ill be seeing the results of my hard labor. Until then, ill be staring at my Z in the garage like ....

***UPDATE***

Sorry for the late post. These past few weeks of trouble shooting paid off. Upon my first dyno i put down an embarrassing 332whp with the 3.12 pulley, barely making 6 psi due to a wrong sized belt and too small of an injector. the 500CCs were maxed out at 90% duty cycle. LOL, so to fix this i Bought 720cc injectors and the correct Belt from Gates and got retuned two days ago.

With reliability in mind, I safely put down 396whp and 329tq @ 9.5 PSI. Injectors were great (70% Duty Cycle @ Redline) so more room to grow if i ever want to go to the 2.87 pulley. it was a hot day in hawaii and AITs were at 107 degrees, the nighttime breeze would put me over 400whp easily. Overall I am extremly happy of the results. the tune added 60+hp and almost 50tq after i fixed my issues. Next to come is Tires because my 4.08s are tearing up my 285s like nothing in 1st and second and water meth injection for knock/detonation protection.

The 4.083 gears i thought were gonna be a bit much to deal with at first but i got used to it now, 1st and 2nd are pretty much useless (I roll from a stop from 2nd Gear and eliminate 1st altogether except for hills) Only fix for the traction issue is better wider tires but once they hook, acceleration feels awesome.

Next will be Water/Methanol Injection. I want a trunk mounted style kit so im gonna go with Coolingmist.

http://www.coolingmist.com/pagedispl...ey=Trunk_mount

I like this style alot and since my whole interior and trunk is gutted it should be fairly easy to make my own secured section for it. Once i get i, ill take pictures and get retuned afterwards for safe conservative tune again (Knock/detonation protection).

My alignment made as much of an improvement in traction as tires did.

Yea thats what I need to get also. Right now i have 285 35 18 Sumitomo HTR II rears and they are horrible, lol. Only bought cause it was cheap and I was only using them to daily drive to duty and back home, 12 mile trip back n' forth. Im looking to get Toyo Proxes TQs for the rear.

I'm running 275mm NT05 in the rear and only break the tires loose in 1st(5at). 2nd gear on hooks great at 540 whp. They have been great tires I've had them over a year. I don't know the specs on my alignment, but I'll ask. Ron Bergenholtz set my suspension up and made me realize that tire width is a small piece of the puzzle. The Formula Drift Nitto guys are running 295mm NT05 street tires with more horsepower than any of us.

Thanks for the info! I did not know that. Unfortunately though, my Volks in the rear are 10.5 wide and my 285 give a bit of stretch fitted on them. I want to have a squared setup and run a little less camber in the rear for more lateral traction. 305s I believe would be perfect.
