Cool Procharged G35

Well i figured since im finally starting to build my car i should make a thread.

2004 G35 76K on motor 132K on body.

I'm just starting to do serious mods on her. Car currently has 5/16 Plenum Spacer, Resonated Test Pips, HKS Replica with magnaflow X Pipe. It's currently tuned by with Uprev and has a ran a best of 14.283@98.02 2.084 60ft in texas when it was stock. Haven't had it back to a 1/4 since adding the mods.

Today and for the next few days I will be installed my JWT Clutch/Flywheel, Stage 1 FRS, 750CC RC injectors, and my Procharger with 42-28 Cog pullies for roughly 11-12psi.

Today I removed my transmission and managed to install my JWT Flywheel. I'm doing all the work here on the base and they close down the shop at 4PM so i only get from 8AM-4PM to work on it.

Just a quick peak underneath the car.
Procharged G35-exhaust-on.jpg

Got the transmission removed.
Procharged G35-transmission-out.jpg

This is where i managed to get to. Had to start to clean up.
Procharged G35-new-flywheel.jpg

Tomorrow going to try to button up the clutch/flywheel install then start working on the FRS if time permits.

In for the build...pretty interesting - I had a modified procharger on my z. Ran 13psi making 455whp.

Dont know how intense you want to get into this build but possi\bly consider a intake cam swap - my engine came to life when I swapped my OEM for a set of JWT S2. Id also consider a harmonic dampening crank pulley and an oil cooler.

Thank you for your service too!

For right now I'm going to keep a stock long block. If/when I do cams i'll have a built short block and more than likely twin turbos. Why do you reccomend a harmonic dampner besides getting a little more boost? I will be doing a oil cooler in the near future as well.

So today finished installing the clutch and and reinstalled the exhaust. The funny thing is, the clutch is easier to push in then it was with the old one.

Look how dirty this thing is.

Transmission on its way in, a lot easier with two people..

Finally it's in.

This is how far i made it.

Will start with my FRS tomorrow.

Here is a few videos

yeah, it'll help spin your blower that much quicker but this is me, I don't know where you fall nor where other SC'ers fall but the power gets interesting at redline. WHP is a function of boost, boost is a function of RPMs. I never came across an efficiency chart for the C2 like you see for turbo-style blowers (and maybe I'm f'd up) but your peak power will be at redline which is where the harmonic dampener works to remove the vibrations that mount-up at aforementioned higher RPMs.

I think I paid $300 for mine back in the day and for the added peace-of-mind it was worth it.

I'll also say this...without knowing too too much about what you have thus far nor where you want to take your car - but if I could go back to 2009(when I swapped my engine) I would have skipped gearing-up the supercharger and gone straight to twin turbo...the money spent and heartache endured re-engineering ATI's R&D could have put me in the greddy twins I'm sitting at now much sooner and for much less money.

The big difference here is that (at the time) I had a built block where it sounds like you have a stock block - that plays a big role too. Hindsight is 20/20 and woulda-coulda-shoulda...(insert shrugged shoulders here)...

BealljkThanks for the Imput. I'm currently running a Stock Block and i got the Procharger for $1500 so i coudn't pass up the deal. I really wanted a Vortech since there is more people running them and with Tim Rod's Radius rod i can run a decent amount of boost. I have my old motor setting in the garage waiting to be built so twins might be here in the next year or so. I'll do some more reading up on harmonic dampeners.

Great start to my day, trying to do my frs and the rc 750's didnt come with the pig tails to connect to stock harness or the fuel rail spacer. So I try the DW 440's and they are missing the bottom O-rings. Looks like possibly another wasted day...

I would prob wait till you put a built block in as the dampeners run round $400 new. Sounds like you have gotten some good deals on your parts!

For the most part i've been lucky with the parts. So I just ended up using the bottom O ring off of the stock fuel injectors on the new to me DW 440'S. I hope these are big enough for 400 whp on pump gas. I also got the fuel send portion of my frs complied with. Got my new fuel pump in the basket and the holes drilled for the cjm correction kit.

Here's the pictures from today.

Here is the Fuel Injector delima i ran into.
Procharged G35-fuel-injector.jpg
There is no O-Ring on the bottom, so i just used my stock one's and i'm hoping for the best

Got the fuel injectors and Fuel Rail installed with the Fuel return routed to where the Fuel Pressure Regulator is going to be.
Procharged G35-rails-installed.jpg
I didn't have Selft Taping screws to mount the Fuel Pressure Regulator.

End of the day, got the Fuel Send portion of the FRS completed. Fuel Basket setting on the Engine waiting on the Fuel Corrections kits which was left at the house FML!
Procharged G35-fuel-send.jpg

Fuel basket with all the holes drilled.
Procharged G35-fuel-basket.jpg

I feel as if i made absolutely no progress today. Hopefully i can start working on my supercharger tomorrow.

Well today was just a disappointing as yesterday. All that i got accomplished was Fuel Corrections Kit and Fuel Pump Installed in Fuel basket and the Basket reinstalled back into the car, Fuel Pressure Regulator Mounted and hooked up, Fuel Return Lines hooked up and semi routed and added a new one of kind spoiler to the car.

Fuel Basket with Corrections kit and Pump installed

Fuel Pressure Regulator Mounted and Hooked up

First 5/16" to -5 AN fitting This one started leaking behind the fitting.
Procharged G35-fitting.jpg
So i had to remove this one and attach a second one which worked great until i moved it for clearance issues then i came off the Hardline now need to find another one. Third times a charm right???

On a good note i added this one of a kind spoiler

I'm guessing that super custom spoiler will do a lot to keep your tail down at high speeds

Well today start off very good, got the fuel system all figured out and got the car running. Once i had that all squared away i started working on my supercharger. I bought 42 and 24 teeth pulleys to replace the stock 38-27's. I tried to get the 27 tooth off and couldn't so i pressed on and took the 38 off and went to put the 42 on but it was stuck so i put it in a press to put it on "HUGE MISTAKE" it moved a little bit but not enough so i went to a local machine shop to have them removed the 27 and put the 24 on and try to take the 42 off and reseat it. Long story short i put the 42 on backwards and when they tried to put it on and it caught and messed it up more.

Procharged G35-pulley.jpg
Procharged G35-pulley-2.jpg

I believe if i had a CNC machine here localy they could fix it since its not "that" bad.

Now the car is setting in my garage, I said i need a break so i brought her home for the weekend since i should be able to do the supercharge in the garage. I have the 38-24 cogs on the bracket right now and according to Procharger that should get me 9-11 psi. I'm still debaing on weather or not to order another 42 cog pulley.

First start of the car with the new fuel system

Fuel pressure, i adjusted it down to roughly 51psi.

I

Well with the help of a dremel, File, and a over set to 350* I saved my 42 tooth cog pulley. So starting tomorrow i should be able to start working on her again.
Procharged G35-sprocket.jpg

Meanz-Thanks, can you up the boost on your set up or are you maxing it out now?

You may have covered this already but is this a brand new kit? If so, it's 20%-25% louder now than it will be after your break-in period because the gears/impeller will seat a little bit and things will quiet down. Are you doing a 500mile break-in?

I would also highly highly suggest keeping your kids away from the open hood. Back in the day, my roommate's kid was 1 second away from putting his finger in the cog wheel - luckily I was standing right there and was able to push his hand away!!
