i'm not sure, you should contact a shop/builder/or tuner.

I am less aware of the DE platform, havent look into it or experienced it as much.

He's tuned the highest stock motor VHR, highest stock motor HR (me), some of the best porsches and GTRs in the world.

I can understand what he's saying in that the double cam operates much different than the one cam of something like an LS. So that it's tunable to have no ill-effects at idle/low rpms. I trust what he's said, he called almost everything to the T of what would happen on my first build.

It's just contrary to what Hal and I talked about. But then again, we were talking about kelfords which run more lift than tomei by a bit and more duration by 8 degrees.

The consensus was bc 3's were as much as you would want on a street car for drive ability

^ Agree, Hal talked me out of anything higher than a 272 (he recommended and I chose Kelford but I think JWT C8 is fairly equivalent). Much wider torque band. I wanted a 3500-7500 band and he delivered. The stress on the motor above 7500 does not warrant the slight gain in performance imo.

MY DE is the rev-up. What about the 272 C8 rev-up version CAM's. With these cam's how much maximum rpm can a VQ35de rev-up built engine can handle safely?

cheers

Yeah they fit the v6 better than anything else when you're talking big power street car imho. The rod stroke ratio and displacement and everything means that 4000-7500 range is your money shot

Those new 5.0's though. Lift for days

^ the C8s and the Kelford 272s (version I have) appear to have nearly identical specifications; I believe 11 mm lift and 272 degree duration.

EDIT: Guess I was slightly off. Kelfords have 11 mm lift, BC stage 3 11.66, C8 12 mm lift. All 272 degree duration.

just for op:

The bc stage 3 is as much lift as you can go without having to machine the heads for clearance. 12mm lift will require clearance machine work (at least for the non rev up heads, I believe the rev ups are the same casting, could be wrong though).

It's not a big deal if you already have the motor in the shop, but if you're putting the thing together yourself (like I did), it can be another hassle. Just something to pay attention for.

^ you should read the FI sticky FAQ; many have tried to boost the VQ on the cheap, a few succeed. UpRev's Osiris is your answer btw.

I don't think the UTEC can alter speed limiter, which is what he was asking about. I guess since this thread has taken a turn off road, www.uprev.com. Google is your friend superhardware
